So am I missing something here. If you don't give them access to your UJ account, are you still supposed to apply for the fake jobs on there and jobs that the previous poster has stated that you don't have the qualifications or experience for. Perhaps you can clarify?

Edit, I am in the opinion that if I was signing on, I wouldn't want to give them access and would prefer to write everything down if necessary.

You can be mandated to USE UJM, but not to allow them to access it. You can allow them to access your UJM and not send email messages, which would stop them using it to notify you of jobs.

You can be notified of the existence of a job via UJM, or via email or being handed a printout of the job or being rung up on your mobile and told to apply for it. Or any other reasonable method. If you don't have email they can mandate that you get an email address.

At a personal level, I think that it's pretty easy for Job Centre staff to sanction you or make your life difficult whether you are on UJM or not, and that refusing to let them onto your UJM may draw their notice.

It's a decision everyone has to make for themselves.

lol the advice in this thread is terrible. If you do not give access to your UJ account they can still insist you apply for a specific job if it matches your JSAG or Claimant Commitment, and why shouldn't they be able to lol! You are in the 'Job' centre after all.

By giving access to Universal Jobmatch they can see what you've been applying for but this only saves you time, because you have to tell them anyway when they ask in your interview that's the whole point of going into the jobcentre.

I can never understand why so many people instantly start making this a them and us situation, small minds i think. anyway,

    Good luck in your jobsearch!

Unfortunately, it is a them and us situation. 20 years ago The JCP would genuinely help you find jobs by helping you with application forms and ringing up employers to arrange interviews etc. Not any more as they are just there to make sure you satisfy the Terms and conditions of receiving JSA and seem to get a buzz out of giving people sanctions.

From what I understand giving "job advisors" access to your UJM account gives them a easy sanctioning weapon. Don't do it OP. Print it all off or write it down instead.

No this isn't the case at all, they can sanction you with or without UJ - UJ if you've given them access simply means they can see what you have applied for on there, if you don't give them access you still have to evidence what you have done to look for work, so giving them access to your uj can only help you from the sanction point of view as its one more source of reference you can use to demonstrate you have met the requirements of claiming job seekers allowance, providing you have been applying for jobs etc.

I really can't understand why you are encouraging vulnerable people to use a dodgy website.
