I am currently applying for a Civil Service role & I am now on the section where they ask you a set of 15 questions in which you need to choose the most appropriate.
Has anyone sat this test & what are the best answers?.
I.E. -
Question 1
Imagine that you are working as part of a team that handles customer records. You currently have paper filing system. There is budget available to buy a digital document scanner, which would significantly increase your team’s efficiency and make cost savings. Several of your colleagues would prefer to stick with the paper system, as they say the current system works fine and they are against using ‘new technology’ due to problems they have had in the past.
Carefully read the options below and rank them in the order that most closely matches the behaviours you would display in this situation.

Carefully read the options below and rank them in the order that most closely matches the behaviours you would display in this situation.
- A) Tell your line manager that the current document storage system is inefficient. Suggest that she buys a digital document scanner, and introduces suitable training for the team.
Email your line manager, saying that the old system should be left in place to avoid upsetting your colleagues.
- C) Tell your colleagues they are being old-fashioned, and that they are holding the team back by not making the effort to understand new technology.
- D) Do not mention the idea of buying a digital document scanner to your line manager.
Never Knowingly Understood.

I'd say a) is the clear winner. If you chose c) you'd probably have your application instantly thrown in the bin.0

OP, you do know if someone gives you the answers and they find out, they can dismiss you if you get the role?0

The idea of the test is that you do it on your own, not with input from random strangers.0

UREGENT ???? seriously?Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

The questions aren't there to trip you up, just approach them in a logical, common sense way and be honest. Civil Service recruitment is all very much based on "What did you do? How? Why? What was the outcome?" so if you put yourself in the above scenario you have to think "Which would I pick, and how would I justify it?".
Best just to go with your instincts if you're not sure.0 -

Rare to see that in the same phrase as civil service0 -
Your seriously stuck on that question?
Maybe the Civil Service isnt for you.0 -
No, not stuck. From previous experience these sort of questions have a specific answer that they are looking for.
I have now done all 15 questions.
In the past, at one of the companies I worked at there was a guy who's partner worked as a section manager for one of the big supermarkets & anyone who's spouse had applied for a role would bring their form in and the guy would take it home for his partner to tick the right 'response'.Never Knowingly Understood.

Ah, that makes it ok then.
It isnt exactly difficult to see the "correct" answer in the example you posted.0 -
Whilst people will scoff, I'd come to the conclusion none of the answers on that test is correct, I've taken it twice now and picked the most obvious in the correct fashion.. last time I considered mixing it up for the 'yes/no man' thing in recruitment.....0
