Thank you for your detailed response, and for confirming every single niggle that went through my head.

Good on you for even stopping to ask the question. You are already ahead of the game.

Everyone is correct, and I have already run through my finances. Myself and my wife are getting rid of the debt the hard way - by budgetting carefully and and paying off everything that we can afford.

Try 'You need a Budget' and 'Money Dashboard' to help you. Bing or Google them.

My gut feel was spot on, and I am not sure why I really gave the guy the time on the phone. I guess that it was a 'spin' that I haven't' heard before, I wondered whether the story had any thruth in it.

Very little, and what little they did say that was true is so warped as to be useless.

I got a call off this scamartist/company a few weeks ago. I did laugh when he said "...see if the contract is unenforceable" Of course it isn't unenforceable, I've been paying it for 2 years already - doing so has meant I have accepted that it is my debt, so how does that then become 'unenforceable'? He hung up on me after I questioned every point he made with common sense!

He's actually half right. Copies of credit agreements are required in order to enforce a CCJ which is entirely different from getting 'out' of a debt through a technicality. These 'technicalities' are often non-existant, like the persistent belief that you require a physical copy of a credit agreement bearing your signature in order to make the debt enforceable - you dont if it was made online, a simple tick of the 'I have read and understood the Ts&Cs' will suffice.

I reported the company to ofcom - he wouldn't say where he got my number (I haven't applied for PDLs or anything similar, or put my mobile num on any forms, online or in RL) and they are scammers.

  • I love the idea of the call blocker - I'll have a look on Amazon tonight.

Well you will be pleased to know that I have called them, and told them that I am not interested in dealing with them any more.

They guy went straight back into the same sales pitch of trying to get me to recieve the paperwork, and be called back in 14 days, blah, blah, blah.

I said "No, I am not interested in what your comapny has to offer", so he started to suggest giving me a call in a few months.

I re-iterated that "I wasn't interested" and finally he accepted it and got offthe phone pretty quickly.

Their number is now in my phone, ticked as 'Auto, divert to Voicemail'.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply to my original post.
  • ....... And I am now getting 2 calls a day from them !

Fortunately, the number is programmed in to my phone to go straight to voice mail, so they call me twice, and get my voice mail twice.
  • I too have been scammed, Resolve has taken £1000 from my account and I am no further forward with my debt problem. My two credit cards were £3000 all in and now I don't know what to do or who to turn to. Help please.:(
  • I have been scammed too, I was with a debt management company before I moved to Resolve Money Matters and was wary of changing but the agent that I was speaking to made the debt reduction option very appealing and at no time was I told that they would take 90% of my payments for themselves. They were paying my creditors £1 each since 3/1/2014 and I had contacted them several times as my creditors were constantly contacting me to find out why they were only paying £1 to each when I paid resolve £179 each month. I had asked for a breakdown of what my creditors were owed and have yet to receive any information. I was told on the phone that some of my creditors were not being forthcoming with information and until all the information was received they would only pay £1. I received a letter from resolve on Saturday 21/03/15 stating that they would no longer be providing me with a debt reduction service after 27 March 2015. In 14 months I have basically paid nothing of my £22,000. I have contacted resolve today to lodge a formal complaint as I feel I have been mis-sold their debt reduction plan. I would never have left my previous debt management company if resolve had stated their fee would be 90%.

Do they still charge 90%? Their website doesn't say anything about that:

You'll have to look in the terms and conditions of any paperwork you signed to see what you agreed to.

    Taken from there website :

"Our management fee is equal to 17.5% of your monthly payment or £35, whichever is greater. Hence monthly payments of less than £200 will attract a fee of £35."

£35 quid a month is there fee, they haven't been taking 90%.

This is extortion in itself, please, please get help from one of the free debt charity's, they don't charge you a penny.

I can't press the "Thanks" button on Firewyrm's post either but I just want to say what a fantastic response. I think this should be put forward for Post of the Month.
