Living in Italy, need to find a home for my uk pension pot

Hi all, I'm new, I have been trawling the net, spoke to many companies, and I'm hitting a brick wall!!!!
My husband left his job before the 2 year safety net of protecting his pension, it's now sat in limbo, £8.5k with time running out to find it a new home, we live in Italy and although we have our own home in UK, we have told the taxman we live abroad, all above board etc, what can we do?????!
I hope there is someone that can help, we are in our 40's and if you need anything else, please ask....

My husband left his job before the 2 year safety net
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/pensionschemes/tax-basics.htm
"If you withdraw from a workplace pension scheme within two years of joining your scheme may refund your contributions. Certain events may shorten this time limit.
Your scheme administrator will deduct tax before making the refund. Tax is deducted at 20 per cent for refunds of up to £20,000 and at 50 per cent on any excess above this.

Is anything in the above relevant to your case?0 -
My husband worked for DHL for 20 months, so I'm not sure if your post is relevant, we have looked on the above website, but we didn't find it helpful, he has been advised to find a company to just transfer into, so he doesn't loose the money, but we can't find a company, seems a mind field....0

Presumably, if you get a refund of contributions, you will lose all the employer contributions which will significantly reduce the £8.5K.

try unbiased.co.uk using your former address post code or any UK address you still have for correspondence. Also consult expat forums, there will be help there.0
