Hi all

In case you haven't seen David's announcement in his "debt adviser diary", our shiny new website has gone live today at www.nationaldebtline.org ! I've been off these boards for the last few weeks helping to bring it to life, so it's a very exciting development from my personal point of view.

All the existing features are there - interactive budgets, fact sheets, sample letters etc. - but the new site is designed to feel more coherent and allow you to navigate around it more smoothly. Plus it is (hopefully) a lot easier on the eye than the old site. There's a lot more to it than that, but it's best if you have a look for yourselves.

The site has a Feedback tab you can use to share your thoughts - please feel free to use it! Equally any replies on this thread are very welcome - after all, you are the very people we want to benefit from the site.

Many thanks

Dennis

    Hi Dennis

Thank you for putting this information up

I have had a brief look through

It looks pretty impressive & slick

The fact sheets are the best around in my opinion

Will have a more in 'depth' look at it later

Just wondering, has it got a full / transfer & save everything online Self Administering Debt Management Plan system like the Citizens Advice Cabmoney site?

    https://nedcab.cabmoney.org.uk/dmp.asp

If not, could I make the suggestion that you put a link somewhere to the Citizens Advice Cabmoney DMP system?

Rumour has it that the NDL site will not be the last one to have a little revamp or two!

The more choice and improvements (and working together of course) the better I/we say:)

    Interesting times guys

Just my feedback and of course take:)

Hello, how are you? Hope all's well ;)

You can save your budget now (this is a new addition from the old site), here's the budgeting section: https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/steps/step2/Pages/Step_2_11.aspx

There is also a link to the My Money Steps system (which is next in line for an overhaul) on the front page.

I'm absolutely with you on the importance of working together. As you know we have very close links with all the major debt organisations, but especially with the CAB.

Looking forward (as ever) to seeing your updates!

    - David.

    Hi David

Thank you for the reply on my feedback & suggestions

I have had another look through the NDL site after reading what you have put Including the section where you can save your budget as per the link provided.

I like the new format, well done, credit due and anything that ups the standards and helps people has to be a good thing.

However there does not appear to be an online Self Administering Debt Management Plan system so again I would like to make the suggestion that you or NDL add a link to the comprehensive & somewhat unique IMA Award winning Citizens Advice Cabmoney system https://nedcab.cabmoney.org.uk/ which now has a transfer provider facility with standard letters.

The Cabmoney site does have a general DMP section that has links to other providers including Cashflow / National Debtline / My Money Steps along with Payplan & Stepchange (see below)

    https://nedcab.cabmoney.org.uk/remedy_4.asp

Now that's giving people the information and choice I would say so how about it David, will you replicate?

On the updates:I was not talking about the Cabmoney site being updated as it is basically always in a continued state of development. I was more inclined to mean others as they really have got a battle on their hands now as was predicted months ago as I am quite sure you are more than aware.

Look forward to your reply and that of Dennis too

Open forums again David, always the best

Best Regards as always and here's to working together

    Hello again,

I'll pass your comments on to the web team. If you're familar with the self-help pack 'Dealing with your debts' you'll notice that the website has been designed to be similar in format. As such we expect those that use the site to work through the 'four steps' section which gives detailed information as to the self-negotiating process. I take on board your comments - and perhaps something to think about is to integrate the budget section with My Money Steps a little more. I believe that My Money Steps is the next site to be updated (the NDL site was actually the second after the Money Advice Trust site).

Any suggestions you can think of I'll pass over to the team responsible for you. There are a few areas of the site that are still not quite finished, and of course some areas that are going to need to change quite significantly (the new bailiff changes coming in April, for example).

I'm grateful for your input, especially since you work within our field. We've had some excellent input from the awesome Debt Camel too. Personally, I think having useful links can only be a good thing.

    Best wishes,

    David.

    Hi David

A good professional reply, thank you

We both know the score, it is set to be one of the most interesting years for a long time on the debt advice front.

Competition and improvements that help those in debt has to be a good thing and it is set to hot up, that's a fact

Best interests of those in debt is my position.

Will keep looking in on the NDL site and maybe make another suggestion or two.

I often put up links to the NDL site when posting on here and elswhere

I will pass this thread onto the Cabmoney people maybe they will look in and comment in an official kind of capacity or contact NDL through other channels:)

Also, yes, the Debt Camel sites star looks to be on the rise, I think they may have recently put a link to Cabmoney DMP System. The Debt Camel site also seems to be at the forefront so to speak on a couple of headline IVA issues which is definitely worth a look. http://debtcamel.co.uk/

My opinions and take as always

    Best Regards

  • Your old site had stacks of useful information but was looking rather old fashioned (that telephone logo!) The new one looks very smart and I like the way you are using the same colours for the 4 steps that the MAT booklet does.

    Hello there,

That was a key idea, to try and tie in the self-help pack with the website. Glad you spotted that.
