Mortgage 7 years after bankruptcy

I moved 3 times post BR to ensure that I got a new credit file rather than clean up the old one, just waited out the solicitor S16 search which is 5 years then I was all good.
You don't get a new credit file when you move address! You just get linked to it. All historic data stays the same0 -

Not so, here is how I did it.. Took out a standard cash card account with Barclays... I moved a couple of times but as I knew they wouldn't be permanent I put a postal redirect on took out no credit nor did I do anything that would write to my file.
After three years had past I registered on the electoral role, waited two months walked into Lloyds asked to set-up a bank account and accurately filled out the application form the address I had actually been living at over the last three years it was approved after a phone call to check what ID I was using. (My passport).
This gave me a new credit file with my old one with all the BR info dormant. The saved a credit file clean up and more importantly allowed me to get a mortgage a year earlier than I otherwise would have.
In answers the other posts :-
Nationwide were not one of my creditors, however Lloyds were and they gave me a DIP (Decision in Principle).
As for being asked about bankruptcy question, Lloyds didn't but I am an existing customer, and for my Nationwide application I took my credit file print out with them and when asked if I had an credit issues I took out my credit file and showed them saying "I didn't have a lot of credit" and when through the file (which doesn't show Bankruptcy, repo or anything) the bank employee without me answering the question ticked "no". This gave me and Instant DIP.
Personally I wasn't comfortable with that, so on recommendation got a broker told him I already had a DIP from Nationwide, so with very few questions other than Salary and addresses he had an identical DIP, this is the one I used for the mortgage.0 -
Hi,
Did the solicitor searches show the bankruptcy?
Many Thanks0 -
I was made BR 6 years ago last October and got a Nationwide mortgage exactly one month after the 6 month anniversary.
There were a few extra hoops to jump through because of the BR but my credit file was immaculate and I put a 20% deposit down so other than the process taking a bit longer it all went through fine.0 -
The solicitors search showed nothing as the K16 land registry search, (the one you pay £2 for) only retains records over the last five years since the last entry on your record.
A number of users on the forum warn of lenders being able to easily check, on the insolvency register. I don't believe this to be true, three months post dischrage the only place they can check simply and freely is the London Gazette. However, as I write this I have checked my record on there and there is nothing to tie me to that record, none of my addresses match, it doesn't include my date of birth so it's impossible to tie that entry to a person, namely me!0
