    Sorry, but I am confused.

You were asking abt your boss paying into your pension, not your mtg? Pension will get TR, mtg wont.

Anyway, the more you put into a pension eventually (alongside cash emergency fund, and other savings/investments) the better.

So yes, once you have more cash free put it into a pension.

And I am not sure about living off your daughters when they are 'rich and famous'. I'd hope more for rich, educated, and successful? Well that is what I hope for my 3.

That too, my emphasis was I wasn't hoping they'd be famous.

After all, Joey Essex is famous. And I'd be mortified to be his mum lol. Even if he could set me up in a McMansion.

Of the 3, one is the kindest person I know. The others aren't too bad on that front, but we'll see. I am not their only influence ;)

What else are Dad's for? As I always say to my wife 'Just as long as I know why it's my fault'

Sounds like the definitions of an optimist to me.

Not just their Dad, their peers and then there is the Pack mentality. In a house of 3 boys, it is a pack. There is a dog, and yes male too lol.

And if you don't keep your Alpha status up, it is like Lord of the Flies lol.

These days, as they are 6 feet tall and I am not, it is very hard to maintain Alpha status. I can longer insist they eat their 5 fruit and veg a day (esp when they are at Uni). I can tell them they need a shave and a haircut, but I can't tie them down and do it lol. So i can't force them to be kind to each other and share etc. But they do in the main.

How much do you charge them for bed and board when they're home for the vacations?

If they are earning, I charge. Last summer they sent out 50 cvs plus applied for jobs- nothing going for short timers- all jobs available were permanent. One of them got a 2 week job. This year they have already signed up so should get something. The one in law school has signed up for a number of summer apprenticeships, dont know if he will get one.

As for their older brother, he is charged 55 quid per week. But he is moving out next month as he has managed to save a respectable wodge of money.

Now if my parenting skills have passed muster, back to the OP.

Is her employer paying into her mtg or her pension? Will it be enough with what she puts in? Is her desire to overpay her mtg going to damage her retirement plans?
