i think alisons idea is fab
  • I am doing something similar for my best friend and her hubby who got married 8 weeks ago. I am ashamed to admit that at the time of the wedding I totally forgot about a pressie as I was running around like a headless bridesmaid! I am making amends tho, and as well as giving them a beautiful photo of the castle they got married at, I am going to make them a hamper as well. They have twins who are one and a half so I thought about a " night out in" hamper as they don't get out much. I have a lovely wee wicker hamper and have got 2 pairs of slippers (snaffled from the posh hotel we stayed at, at the weekend - they are the throw away kind), and am going to put in 2 champagne glasses (prob get from CS), some sparkling wine, a DVD or 2, some nice biscuits/crackers, some nice cheese, some fresh fruit and some posh chocs. Any other suggestions welcomes! I am thinking along more of the classier lines, rather than Ann Summers/saucy stuff - they have enough of that already - hence the twins! :rotfl:
  • Lush do some really nice massage-oil bars.
They last for ages and ages and there's lots of different shapes/smells.

To save some money you could get an ice-cube tray in funky shapes (Wilkinsons do heart ones for 95p) and melt chocolate into that and leave to cool.
Would be a cool way to save money and make it more personal as you could make cute little wrappers out of foil etc.

    Hope that helps! :D

I recieved a lovely MSE gift when I got married, in fact it was the one that stood out most and was very cheap.

    Bread
    Salt & pepper
    Candle

Ok so the bread was a posh expensive loaf, the salt and pepper came in lovely grinders and the candle was a nice scented one. But what made it was the gift card, it explained that this was an old traditional present which was meant to bring luck to the newly weds.

Bread - So that you may never go hungry
Salt and pepper - So that your life always has flavour
Candle - So that you can be a light for each other in times of darkness

I thought this was really special and of course you can fancy it up a bit with a nice basket and wrappings, hth. x Angela

Oop's just noticed that this is an old thread and probably no longer relevant, sorry!

Local family planning clinic gives out freebies, then they can have some more saucy stuff without getting pregly again.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
