On twitter, Do you have to be followed by the comp owner?

Just wondered, to get a notification of a win, does the person running the comp have to follow you first? I get all sorts of people wanting to follow me since I started comping, but I just ignore them all. should I do this or allow them to follow me?

do you have your tweets protected so that people have to request to follow you and you approve them?

they do need to follow you to send u a dm but u can ask them to do that if u win

it sounds like her tweets are protected though so she is unlikely to win anything as promoters can't see her tweets.

I'm assume you having followers is a bad thing? I find comping in general brings lots of followers... I think people follow others who share competitions so they can enter them.... If that makes sense? Maybe for those who don't enter from sites like MSE or are big on their Twitter comps..

I'm not complaining though, the more the merrier for me

promoter would probably @ you first (public tweet), asking you to DM contact info.. they would have to follow you, to allow this..
