New job - quick question about holidays

Hi,
I have just been offered a new job :j They would like me to start as soon as possible but I am one months notice (as soon as I give my notice in). However I have a holiday booked for the end of May. As this will still be part of my probation where holiday is not allowed - where do I stand? Is it totally up to the individual employer or do they need to honor my previously booked holiday?
Thanks.

Totally up to the employer, they can dictate when you have some or all of your leave as long as they allow you to have the minimum entitlement (5.6 weeks)during the leave year. You should really have mentioned this when you were first offered the job.0

Up to employer if not mentioned before.. I'd say something now & loudly because it might be on a first come, first served basis, esp if they work of one of those nasty wall charts when everyone has a sticker for their little requests for example and once date has been taken that is it, might be lucky to be able to get someone to agree cover that's an option (remember solution) if their agreeable if it is like shift work, is it classroom induction or on the job training? that could change the argument too!0

Thanks for your replies. I agree I definitely should have mentioned it then but I was so surprised that they offered me the job at the salary I asked for - holiday completely slipped my mind!
I can happily say that they have just got back to me and said it is absolutely fine for me to have my holiday as planned (luckily it is only for a few days).
New job - here I come woohoo!0
