I got 85% would really like to know what questions I got wrong. Does anyone know where you can see actual results???
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -

You could try Functional Skills Maths - adult classes should be available at a local college although it's unlikely you will get on a course part way through the academic year. Some employers (not all) will accept the Level 2 Maths qualification (instead of GCSE) so if you can achieve that it might help.0 -
I only scored 65 out of 100 which was actually better than I expected. I hated maths at school as I was terrified of the teacherThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

A lot of my clients (small business owners) are terrified of "maths" and retreat into their own little world of "can't do maths" often not even trying!
Yet, when I sit down with them and show/explain to them how to do something, they almost always take it in and surprise themselves that they actually understand it and can do it!
I think it's down to them being "taught" abstract non-existent situations that they can't relate to in real life, so that it's alien to them. The schools also rush them on, year by year, onto more complex maths which is completely stupid if they havn't grasped the basic competencies. Crazy modern trends such as not learning the 12 times table by rote have only made things far worse - that kind of basics are fundamental to being able to move on.
If you can teach them by using real life circumstances, like working out the VAT on a 99p coffee, or the 20% tax on their wages, they can relate to the reality and it starts to make sense. Likewise telling them how to easily work out a 20% sale reduction on a £50 coat - very easy when you're shown how!0 -
Well I feel cheated! Started the test last night and logged out as it was bed time and I hadn't finished. Logged in again this evening and apparently I've finished the test. I did score 87% but I don't know if I've actually finished or not.0

I only managed a D in GCSE Maths but took functional skills maths last year and passed that.
My brain definitely has a block on numbers, even telling the time takes me longer than most. Ive always felt that the maths teachers I've had don't really understand a non mathematical brain and how to teach it. You can easily fade into the background amongst 30 other kids.
I felt stupid for not being able to do maths and so embarrassment takes over. Thats why it took me until i was 27 to face it! Glad i did though!0 -

Why do you think that it's the government's job to help people into work? Should they not do it themselves?0 -

And yes people should, however as most are or have been taxpayers they deserve a level or professional service that meets today's market. All that glitters is not gold.0
