Old style daily Tuesday 11th March
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning nmlc
Off to work in a few minutes, long day today finish around 6. I had the most awful day at work yesterday, difficult demanding people and far too much work to be done safely , I have complained to the bosses that it's too much and not safe. But nothing has been done yet , although they say they are looking into it
It's foggy ATM but I gather the weather is going to be nice.
Scrambled eggs for breakfast and sausage roll for lunch
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Good morning nmlc, sistercas and all who follow
Am here in my hotel getting ready for work .... just in a different place and a bit later! Nice hotel but thin walls and a different bed so not a great sleep.
Can't really say much OS being away for the week but at least all costs will be on expenses so maybe this is ideal.
Julie - re mortgage question, are you still on DMP? If so, ask HH on the DMP & Mutual Support Thread, she has a lot of experience with remortgage applications.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy and dull, looks like we may have had a frost too. It was a really dull and dreich day yesterday and the wind was really chilly, I think we may get the same for today. Although washing did dry on the line.
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I forgot to get the sausages out to defrost on Sunday night so got them out yesterday morning but they weren’t defrosted properly ready to cook for last night’s dinner, so just swapped yesterday and today’s meals around. That’s the great thing about having a menu plan and being organised – it means you’re not put in the position of “oh we’ll have to have a takeaway then”. Before doing OS that was something that happened quite reqularly in our house! The sausages have now defrosted properly and so tonight’s dinner will be sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy.
Work yesterday was a manic Monday especially in the morning – luckily it did slow down in the afternoon. But I had a very awkward customer who got very angry and was shouting at me, he couldn’t understand why the situation was the way it was and there’s nothing we can do. Not the nicest part of the job but a necessary part. Hoping today will be calmer!
Slept a little better last night, but have several things on my mind and my brain just doesn’t shut down so I have difficulty getting to sleep and then staying asleep. Hoping that I can sort the sleeping pattern out before it becomes a difficult habit to break – I do get these nights where sleep is just impossible because my brain doesn’t shut down but they are not a regular occurrence but I’ve now had 2 nights like it in the last 4 nights – obviously yesterday’s workload didn’t help. I don’t want to get to a point where I just can’t sleep at all and then need meds etc – I really don’t want to go down that route so will try to get into good habits and routine before bed so sleep is easier to achieve.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning all
Well last night was different. I did too much gardening on sunday and my legs (thighs) were killing me so last night i took a long hot soak in the bath and thought i would put some deep heat cream on them. Couldnt find the deep heat so used boots version instead..BIG MISTAKE..after just 5 mins i was burning and looked like a lobster. back in the shower to wash it all off and after taking an antihistermene (sorry cant spell it) redness slowley started to fade. The down side is i am as groggy as anything this morning.
Busy this week at work as we have contractors in finally finishing the windows and electricians fitting outside lights to replace the outdated ones that dont work.
Dinner tonight will be impossible quiche as i have loads of eggs to use up. Must make some bread today even though i could just sleep on my break.
Anyhoo better at least try and look busy for when the boss gets in.
Hugs to all that need

Morning all,
Didn't sleep well last night. Only Sunday I turned the heating off in the house and this morning turned it back on again because I was cold. I went to bed cold and woke up cold in the early hours. Then my mind wouldn't shut off... bahhh!
Not sure what I'm doing today though ive got a visitor at 11.
Just the usual dailies to get through today but I am going to have one final throw out before our refuse collection turns into grey wheelie bins and green, blue and black recycle bins next week. I need to get some sort of system going. The coloured bags issued are too small for a fortnights worth of recyclables... but don't get me started on that because i'll be moaning all day.
Still on my injured pc but I don't think I'm going to get that sorted until the weekend maybe.
Have a great day all and catch the sun if you have any. I'm hopeful the sun will make its appearance later. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi everyone,
Judi, I'd hate that, we have two bins, one for normal waste and one for recyclable, plus a food waste bin and that's plenty to cope with.
There's not a lot going on here at the moment, just bumbling along with bits of housework, bits of sewing, bits of cooking, it's very boring to write about but much better for me than the alternative.
I'm having to bite my tongue with my co-executor - one of my brothers and the one I never got on with. He finds it strange that we now get on but I could tell him it's because I have resolved not to argue with him. He can't bear to be in the wrong or even to think he's wrong, it's as if he hasn't grown up at all from when we were young. TBH I think we'll come out of it with a better relationship than we've ever had but we'll never have much in common.
HH hope you have a better day today and that everyone else has a good day.0 -
Morning all!
Haven't been around, real life has been keeping me busy! 2 days off to sort out the house, empty the car of gibble so its ready to go back to the garage on Saturday, cos I've bought a new one!
Things are still going well with my new friend, although DS has been a bit funny as expected, he is coming round a bit now I hope. Still feels very strange to be happy and smiling again, but I am trying hard to just enjoy it, am certainly enjoying the early morning texts, and a bit of hestering, lol! I have been inspired to get the carp out of the house, as my friend is going to sort out the bedroom furniture for me, so once again the man at the dump thinks he is being stalked, but I do almost have a bedroom floor again....more bags to sort and dump today, and then will only be left with the task of the mega pile of records etc to decide what to do with, DS wants to keep them but there are soooo many, and none have been played for over 10 years probably!
Oh well, back to the grindstone, have a good day all!RIP Iain

Hope all continues to go well for you Jools. Nothing like a bit of Hestering to boost your spirits and lift your day..... With the right person of course.:DThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning all
Had planned a day out in Brighton, but too cold and chilly. Pottering sort of day, DH making bird feeding table out in garage
Plan to make bulk spag bols and cottage pies, for freezer later.
Off for coffee in a mo with lovely friend next door but one, take care allCarolbee0 -
Morning all,
Thanks TTFTM yes we are, I will pop over shortly.
I'm another one with crazy sleep patterns, getting to sleep is a big problem but once I'm asleep I'm managing a few hours. I don't want to take meds either, I'm on enough medication for athritis and pain.
There must be spring in the air Snoozer. I'm glad things are going well for you, you deserve some happiness. I was dreaming about Hestering all night:eek::rotfl:
It's another glorious day. Have been for another mould on my teeth, one more wax one then I should get my teeth, thank goodness. The gap is towards the back but I'm very aware of it.
Have escaped for a few hours with dh today as he has a nice drive to his job. We have middle son and his gf for tea. Just doing healthy pizzas as we are all healthy eating. Might make some fairy buns as a special treat for pud.
I should get my new car this weekend. Hurray can't wait to be mobile again. I've been driving since I was 21 and have hated not being able to get out and about under my own steam. I won't need to use my left leg as it's automatic. Can't wait:D
Anyway onwards and upwards, have a good day all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
