Hi
I dont know if this is a silly question or not? i left my last employer around 3 weeks ago and he notified me that he has forwarded my P45 onto my old adress DOH! he says he cannot produce another copy which is feesible i guess? Anyway i have tried to contact the new tenant to try to redeem it and am having no joy as yet
how much aggro is this if i cannot retrieve it? is it impeartive that i have one for my new employer?
Any help greatly appreciated

Hi Happy Snapper!
In my experience P45 is not always necessary just quicker to sort your tax code out. So they don't place you on emergency tax. I'm not sure if you can get a copy but you can fill in a P46 and give this to your new employer - follow the link below

This is based on my experience only perhaps someone else may have better detail than this!0 -
You're absolutely right. It's not the end of the world.
Wherever you go next ask to complete a P46. Your tax code will be corrected as the copy he sent to the old address will also have a duplicate that went to the tax office so they will simply inform your new employers of the correct code when they recieve the P46 you completed.
Don't stress yourself, it happens alot.0
