wild flowers for august wedding?

Options
Hi! My daughter wants wild flowers in yellow, green and brown colours for her august wedding. She lives in Sleaford Lincs, has anyone any recommendations for where to get some? Dont really want to pay really steep prices at florists, we only need to put some in jam jars on the tables and a bunch for the bride to hold, she doesnt want a formal bouquet. Its a rustic wild child look lol? Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas? x:j

me too - I'm wanting the same thing and my date and colours are similar.

Only thing I would say, if you pick them, make sure they're not growing in a protected area or on the endangered species list, or anything like that first - I hadn't thought about this either - a friend said it when I mentioned I was thinking of picking mine.
Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!
  • Just thought I should add that many native species will not take well to being picked and popped in water, they will wilt very fast, how about growing them in pots to go on the table and then really thinking about what to put in the bouquet, you will have to do a lot of research beforehand.
  • Thanks for your replies girls, we were going to grow them for her but we are moving house now and will not have a garden, plus we are going up 2 days before the wedding so not really practical :(
Do florists sell bunches of wild flowers? Lol will research further! x

In a word, no. Wild flowers are classed as special orders as the poster above said they wilt very fast and the seasons don't always match up with the time they are ordered. Maybe go for grasses and some ivys and single chrys heads, spray carns, spray roses and freesias etc as if you choose the right ones you can have the effect of a wild flower bouquet for less money than a true wild flower one - and it won't flop on the way to the wedding
  • Yep, the flowers you see at a florists have been taken care of and bred specially so that they last longer than wildflowers. It would be wonderful, but it seems quite impractical. I think it would be best to bite the bullet, and go to a florist, but perhaps ask if they have some bulk offers. I know they do that where we live.
