  • Happy Monday diary!

Well the weekend was pretty non eventful. Had a night out on Friday. Ended up spending on budget, was hoping to spend a little less but sadly that didn't happen. It was a good night though so worth the spend.

We did our grocery shopping on Saturday. We went to L*dl, first time I've been there in years but my husband went a few days before & said it was pretty good in there so we gave it another go. Spent about £80 but bought loads of food & is a much better amount than we would normally spend in the other supermarkets we usually shop in.

As for my previous to do list, I did all of this except for checking bike prices. I will get round to this as I will have to make sure the one we want is in stock.

My to do list for today is

Ring Equifax to cancel membership (I stupidly forgot to cancel before the 30 day trial was up so have been charged £14.95) Not good.
Check bank & transfer any odd pennies (I have recently learnt that this method has been affectionately named Tilly Tidies)
Keep up with the washing. The washing basket is not empty but is no longer overflowing, I would like to keep it that way.
    Clean bathrooms.
    Do a few surveys.

And that's it for today. It is my birthday tomorrow so I just want to have a few relaxing days :)

Hope everybody is having a lovely Monday. The weather is certainly a lot better!

I had seen Tilly Tidies somewhere else and wondered what it was :rotfl:

How often do you transfer the money across?

    Happy Birthday for tomorrow!! :T

Yes the Tilly Tidies is rounding your account down to the nearest £1 (or I do the nearest £10). I tend to do it every day because I'm always checking my balance anyway, but I do occasionally miss a few days if we're away on a weekend or have not had chance to check on a busy day.

It's a good way of saving as I don't miss the odd few pounds/pennies going out of my account & soon adds up. My Tilly Tidies savings are now on just over £110. Not bad for just a few pennies at a time. It does make my bank statement pages & pages long though because of all the transfers :) Luckily I am green so don't have paper statements sent to my house, all done online instead.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes. Hope your payments are going as planned.

  • Ooh, just remembered one thing that I want to add to my diary.

Have finally changed phone & BB provider. Have been with TT for a few years & at first they were good but lately we've found our connection dropping all the time. So I checked a few others out & found that Sky is going to be cheaper for us, plus I get cashback because I went through Topcashback, plus we get a £25 M&S voucher. So big bonus all round for that swap.

That's a great idea...I have opened up a new nationwide account for Savings, Child benefit and overpayments (basically any money i don't have budgeted for bills and food etc) ...the idea being that I put any savings into that and as my loan is with that bank, I can easily make transfers across and OP my loan!

  • Hello Diary

So a good few days. I had a lovely birthday, well I was in work as normal but it was lovely when I got home. Had some lovely presents & some money and I know I'm having money off my Dad too. I'm going to put the money in to my savings account. There isn't anything I particularly want at the moment & don't want to spend it on stuff just for the sake of it. I will put it in the savings account & buy something when I think of something I just can't live without :)

I have to take a trip to the bank today to pay some cheques in & of course pay the money in that I have so far.

My £1 per day pots are on track. It's becoming a daily ritual now to pay that money in to the pots.

Have been keeping on top of the transferring money. I also now have to keep checking our Santander account because all our DD's now come out of there so I need to make sure we have the money in there to pay those bills. It's our first month of it being open so it's a bit higgledy piggledy because some stuff came out of our old account before the account was completely switched over. Next month will be better because it'll all be coming from the new account & we can start earning the cashback then.

My to do list for today is
    Pay cheques in to bank
Ring HSBC to cancel a standing order that for some reason I can't cancel on my internet banking
Clean bathrooms (didn't get round to doing them the other day)
Sort all books that are currently in a pile next to my bed, need to find a place for them all
Sort out pile of clean clothes that need putting away

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather we have today

  • Monday morning again. Where do these weekends go?!!

So first to the To Do list I set myself the other day.

    I paid the cheques in
I rang HSBC & cancelled the standing order
    Cleaned the bathrooms
    Didn't sort the books out
    But sorted the clothes out.

My £1 pots are going well. I was away this weekend but got home yesterday afternoon, caught up with the £1's that were missing in the pots & put the rest of the change I'd accumulated in to the large plastic bottle that we have in the bedroom.

Tilly Tidies are going ok. Have added another £16 odd in to the account over the last week or so.

Had an expensive weekend this weekend as we were away celebrating my birthday & our anniversary. All budgeted for though so nothing unexpected. We even got upgraded to a better room so had free drinks & canapes in the hotels executive lounge :)

    My plans for tonight are

Get some bits ordered ready for daughters party next week.
Find a storage solution for the books that are by my side of the bed.
Check what we have in fridge, freezer & cupboards to come up with a meal plan for the week.
Order any miscellaneous groceries that we need or make shopping list to pick up in the week if nothing urgent.

As I said in a previous entry, I have signed over to Sky phone & BB as there was a good offer on (works out cheaper than current provider) plus will get cashback. Typically the router was delivered on Saturday but as we were away for the weekend that has gone to the post office, so now I have to find time to get there.

I hope everybody's Monday is going ok & isn't going too slowly. I am counting the hours until I can get in my car & go home!

  • Hi All

Oh this week is dragging! I just want it to be the weekend, looking forward to another bank holiday weekend & we have some fun plans too for daughters birthday.

I was so glad of the weather staying warm last night as we still had some work to do in the garden & I wanted to get it done before the weekend so that we can actually enjoy it.

I've had a NSD this week, almost unheard of! I brought some snacks in to work (have been doing this a lot lately) and because I had quite a few snacks throughout the morning I actually didn't feel hungry at lunch so didn't buy anything. Then on my way home I was tempted to go & buy some ice creams from the supermarket but resisted this & went straight home to start working on the garden.

I put my old phone on ebay last week but I timed it badly because it ends today at midday so I don't think it's going to hit the reserve (it's an IPhone 5 so had a minimum in mind). I'll have to relist it to end on a Sunday night or something if it doesn't sell today.

Got a few spendy days now because we have to prepare for our daughters party on Sunday.

As for my to do list from Monday, I didn't achieve much! I ordered the bits I needed for the party but I didn't do any of the other bits. However, the reason for this was because I ended up doing other bits around the house & garden for the last few days, so it hasn't been a completely unproductive week :)

So my To Do list for today is

A small grocery shop for essentials (we've run out of loo roll)
    Tidy up bedroom
    Clean kitchen
    Clean downstairs WC
    Hoover downstairs

And that's it for today. I'm sure I'll end up not doing at least one of these but I absolutely have to go shopping so I know I'll get at least one of these crossed off the list.

  • What a day! The weather is atrocious, the sky is just grey & miserable.

On a positive note though, it is Friday:j

So first to my To Do List

A small grocery shop for essentials (we've run out of loo roll) - Done, literally needed milk & toilet roll
Tidy up bedroom - Sort of done, I tidied up a bit but then tidied up another room & some stuff had to be put in my bedroom so it's a bit untidy again. Stripped the bed this morning though so nice clean bedding to go on when I get home
Clean kitchen - I don't know why I set this task because I'd already cleaned it yesterday morning
Clean downstairs WC - Not done, will do today
    Hoover downstairs - Did this

    So that's 5/5, woohoo!:T

Got to get some stuff done but will be back shortly for an update

  • Ok, so back to it.

Good day today. I have completed a load of surveys so earned a bit of cash there. On Valued Opinions I didn't realise I had hit the £10 mark so I have now redeemed that for a Flexeshop voucher, which has been converted to an Amazon voucher. Great for me because it's our daughters birthday on Wednesday so I can order her a book from Amazon now. InboxPounds had a lot of surveys today but I have to get to £20 to have that payout. Haven't checked Onepoll yet.

Quidco balance is on £5 odd. I don't use Quidco as much now because Topcashback pays out higher amounts, but this is all older stuff that has just been confirmed. I'll wait until everything is confirmed & then payout.

Topcashback I have loads waiting to be moved over to payable, so frustrating!

The bank balance is looking very good at the moment & payday is next Friday. Once all the bills are paid at the beginning of June I am going to move the rest into savings.

I have a lovely weekend planned, although tomorrow is going to be really busy preparing everything for our daughters party on Sunday!

I hope everybody has a nice weekend planned. Enjoy the bank holiday!
