Resident and nonresident jointly owning Uk property

I am an Indian national planning to buy a property in UK.

I was in UK for 2yrs 2007-09 that time I bought one house in London for which I am still paying mortgage (Buy to live). Now I am working in
Africa and don't have any visa for UK.

I am planning to buy another house in London as Buy to let as a joint
owner with my friend living in London. My friend also owns a house in UK on buy to live mortgage.

Please any idea if it's possible to buy a property jointly and find any mortgage with one Resident and one nonresident owner and 25% deposit.
We both make good salary and have good financial record.

I rather doubt that any UK lender would consider offering a mortgage. It's bad enough when both mortgage applicants for a BTL are domiciled in the UK as I'm discovering.
