Mobile hairdresser, is this usual?

We have used our mobile hairdresser for a couple of years but don't know if we are getting a good service.

We don't have a price list so can never judge what the bill will be, she uses my towels and my shampoo and conditioner. Especially worried about the towels as daughter has bleached foils. Is this usual for a mobile hairdresser?
Thanks.

Good service and value for money depend on how you feel about the service you're getting.

It seems a bit odd to go two years without asking how much she charges.

Have you asked for a price list ?

Have you compared what you pay her to what you'd pay in a salon?

Have you asked for a price list?

Don't you keep one or two older towels to use for your daughter's sessions with her?

Thanks, only really questioned the charges as recently I seem to be paying random prices?
Just wondering if the towel/shampoo thing is the norm?
We started using her as a friend of my niece, prices were very reasonable to begin with so didn't occur to ask for price list.

If you feel awkward asking for the prices for yourself, then ask for a price list and say it is for a friend.

All the mobile hairdressers I know supply all the hair products. Not sure about the towels.

My mobile hairdresser is very reasonable because she uses my shampoo, conditioner and towels.

I'm happy with the price and my choice of hair products.

I think you'd find that a salon would charge a lot more and you'd have to go there, probably hanging around.

When my mobile hairdresser comes, I always use the towels I use for washing my hair. I have highlights a couple of times a year, roots every 4-6 weeks. She provides all the products but uses my shampoo.

As to prices, how does what you pay for say your daughter's foils compare to local salons? Everyone will have different deals with their own hairdresser so telling us probably won't help!

I guess if she used her own towels she's end up with a car full of musty damp towels by the end of the day.

What are you particularly worried about with her using your towels? I would have thought you'd only be using old ones specifically for when she comes anyway.
