14 Months after discharge - received monetary gift

I think I know the answer to this, but just want to double check....

Am I right in thinking that as soon as one is discharged from Bankruptcy the OR cannot look into your bank account etc and "claim" money which you have been gifted?

Ie If I received a sum of money 14 months after discharge am I able to save this or do i have to "declare" it to the OR?

Many thanks as always.

And what if you do pay back money each month?
  • it could be claimed as an asset

When you say it could be viewed as an asset, does anyone have any experience of this happening ie, do the OR ask to see any statements etc after being discharged, ie between 12 months and 36 post bankruptcy?

I've been bankrupt twice myself so I do know the score and it seems to me you're looking for a 'grey area'.

Whatever you're doing is your concern obviously but my advice is, do not mess with the OR. They are fine and no problem unless you try and get clever with them; then they'll rip you to shreds.

Not sure about this money? Ask your OR office. Then you'll know the answer 100% correctly, won't you.
I am not offering advice, at most I describe what I've experienced. My advice is always the same; Talk to a professional face to face.

Debt - None of any type: Bank or any other accounts? - None: Anything in my name? No. Am I being buried in my wife's name... probably

I believe that a one off could not be claimed post-discharge (like a lottery win etc.) but the income from it in terms of interest, could be claimed if you have an IPA.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.
