Old Style Daily Thread Saturday 8th March
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Fish fed, washing on the line, I'm browsing with a cuppa. It's the calm before the storm here, DGD was collected by her Mum at 5ish y'day, hubby & I are collecting DGD later this morning, I'm still attempting to get some housework done in between the chaos that is visiting grandchildren.
    Have a lovely day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Good morning ttftm and all that follow.
Well yesterday was a nonstop day here. Dh is away for the weekend, so went for it in the cleaning way.
Whole house was blitzed. Popped into town and finally changed name on bank acc to my married now(only took just under a year), dh had filed the marriage cert and we only found it Fri.
Finally got dd passport form off so should be hearing from them soon for her interview. Treated dd to a new dress as well as she has been down in the dumps thanks to my ex. But after a heart to heart Fri night I think she is going to be OK.
Got my hair coloured and trimmed at last, and finally gave my little dog a clip and bath. Bless him he loves being pampered, but does look like a drowned rat when wet.
Had leftover pizza for dinner and finally got to watch some programmes i had recorded ages ago.
Plan for today is to get washing out and tackle the garden.
Time to feed the boys, so must crack on. Hugs to all in need.
    Bright blessings xxx

Good Morning chums, just had an email from my cousin in Australia and its 35c where she is .and I'm chuffed as the forecast is 15c today :):):) The bulbs are flowering beautifully and the garden looks really nice with the splash of colour at the bottom.I had a concrete base where the old greenhouse used to be and my chap who does my gardening for me planted about 8 dozen bulbs in there after filling the base up with compost for me .They are all coming up and look really nice.He came last Thursday and even ran the flymo over the lawn so the garden looks lovely in the sun this morning. He comes once a fornight and keeps it tidy and weeds it for me as I cannot manage it very easily anymore and to me he's worth his weight in gold.
I've had an upset tum for a few days so haven't really done much at all.I had some grapes from South Africa that I bought on Tuesday and when I tried them they did seem to have a bit of a funny taste and on Thursday I was really poorly.Haven't really eaten much since then at all.yesterday I had lots of lucozade that DD dropped off for me and supplemented it with hot mugs of Bovril to keep me rehydrated.Even this morning I really don't fancy much to eat, still its good for the diet at least :):)
I see my consultant on the 19th, and fingers crossed I get the go-ahead for my reconstruction op. in April.I have done fairly well with my weight loss and so far have dropped two and a bit stones which I am please with (hopefully so will he :):)) I have go the pre-op appointment for the 25th so it looks as though he will have got me a bed
It will be so nice to be able to wear and buy nice underwear and clothes and feel more like my old self again.
I hope everyone has a good day today and the sun shines down on you what ever you are doing
    take care

It's a beautiful day , the sun is shining and the sky is blue :j:j, I've fed the piggies and cat , fed and watered the birds . Itching to do some washing but I don't have enough to fill the washer , until dd2 gets up I'm sure she will have some in her room

I'm either going to potter in the garden or go for a walk , I can't decide .

Sausages for tea I think ,quick and easy , dd is at work later

Looking forward to the last ever dancing on ice tonight

    Morning everyone,

JackieO Hope that you feel better soon.

    Molly, Hilstep, Snoozer Hugs.

Sistercas Well done to your DD on her university offer and good luck for her exams. My DS has an offer from his first choice university (Bristol) to do maths and he is delighted.

It is a beautiful sunny morning here, wash number one is in the machine and I have another two lined up.

I went to see Miranda yesterday with DD1 and DD2. It was really funny in a gentle sort of way.

Off to church in a minute and then the big supermarket visit!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning all,

It's glorious here and the sun is shining. Dh gets very excited at this time of the year, planning what he's going to grow, and making changes in the garden. The lawn had its first mow yesterday .
JackieO well done on your weight loss, I'm very impressed. I started my new healthy eating yesterday, fingers crossed it will help my knees feel better.
I'm still only bending my knee to around 70% and it's 9 wks tomorrow. But I shall continue religiously with my exercises. I can however straighten my leg very well.
Well done to Sistercas and Moorhens DS, dd on their university offers.
We also did DGS duties last night, we watched a movie with popcorn until Oscar fell asleep half way through so we watched Iron Man 2 alone:rotfl:
Anyway I fancy french toast for breakfast so have a good day all x

Just had a visit from the Police - there has been some sort of incident further along the road, the road is cordoned off and they were asking all the residents if they saw or heard anything. I heard nothing, my bedroom is at the back of the house, DD heard some shouting. There was a jumper hanging off the hedge which they have photographed and taken away. Hoping DD can get to work.

Bingo was good, never really played before but had 8 year old neighbour's DD to help me! Didn't win anything, not even one of the raffle prizes and there were loads of them! Still, it raised enough money for the Guides to go on a trip so all worth it.

Going to be preparing the dressing table today ready to paint, also hoping to get DD to help me lift some more stuff into the loft to clear the room of doom. I did buy paint so if I an clear enough stuff I could make a start.

Just had bacon and eggs for breakfast, will have chicken stir fry for tea. I think DD still has some soup left for her lunch at work.

Washing on the airers as it doesn't look too good out this morning and is forecast to rain later.

    Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX
  • Glorious sunshine here and three loads of washing on the line already.
I woke at 6am and couldn't get back off to sleep so I got up and did the washing and pottered about.

DH and DD have just gone to the gym and DS is doing course work. So a nice peaceful morning.

I have 3 pairs of work trousers for DH to be turned up this afternoon....deep joy animated-smileys-rolleyes-10.gif Can you tell it is not my favourite of jobs

Dinner is roast chicken with brussels, parsnips, carrots, roasties and yorkie puds followed by a fruit strudel.

    Enjoy your day all x

    Hi everyone,

What a beautiful day. DS and GF have gone to Colchester zoo with her family as her birthday treat. They go every year and she insists that they picnic, sometimes the weather is foul and everyone grumbles, this year there won't be any complaints.

DH and I are going to MK, I want to buy a dunlopillo pillow for the Yorkshire house, they are horrendously expensive but the only ones I find comfortable to sleep on and I've tried a lot of pillows. I also want to look at patio furniture as I've got a bit of money coming to me from mum and dad's estate and don't want to fritter it away on bills. I shall give some to the kids, buy a few things I really want but couldn't justify and then pay down the mortgage I think.

We have a voucher for free afternoon tea in M & S so we will spend that as well. Then if their is time I'd like to fit in a walk.
