Budget planning

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good (preferably free) budget planner or some sort of spreadsheet that can help us plan our monthly budget a bit better. I saw the thread for YNAB but dont really want to pay that much for what esentially a spreadsheet would do. I am rubbish at computers so dont know where to start to set up a spreadsheet lol
Apologies if this has been covered before

I just draw mine out in a notebook. Columns and rows with each debt, date due out, amount then i tick off each month it leaves my account.

Really easy and i can still access it if my battery is dead :D
    DEBT FREE AND PROUD:D

I know you want a free budget planner but I would like to point out that YNAB is so much more than a spreadsheet. It's a whole financial methodology with hours and hours of training materials and live classes. I would recommend you try the 30 day free trial and watch some of the videos before dismissing it. I also thought I couldn't afford it but it has saved me so much money in the past year that it has more than paid for itself.

I use Open Office (free) software and use the spreadsheet as a budget. I really don't use any advanced Excel-type functions, just the SUM which I use for the running total.

    Example:

I use KMyMoney. I've also heard of GnuCash. Both are free and open source. They give you a ledger to track money in and out.

Or you can use a spreadsheet. Mine's different to FrugalLina's - mine only tracks expenses for the current month. I use KMyMoney for more accurate and longer term budgeting. It also shows me what I spent money on in previous months.

I use YNAB nad have done fro anout 8 months. Yes the fee is a bit, but I started with the free trial and then found a sale on Steam and got it for about £7. It's saved us a fortune.
