Redemption Figure Delay

I am in process of remortgaging from HSBC to YBS who have appointed a firm of solicitors called Optima Legal.

It has taken three weeks to get a redemption figure from HSBC in order to allow completion.

This is based on the date when Optima Legal first asked for the redemption figure from HSBC (according to Optima). Optima said HSBC had a service level of 5 days

When I rung HSBC to complain, they said they returned the redemption figure 2 days after receiving the request and therefore were not at fault.

Both parties are adamant the other party is at fault, and I have no way of proving who is lying. Any ideas how I take forward? We are remortgaging to save money, so every day delay is costing me money!

why didn't you ring hsbc 2 adn 1/2 weeks ago..

I must admit I do think hsbc are useless.. and need regular chasing..

I know last week, If I remember correctly that Optima had fax machine issues :rotfl:

However they should be fixed now as I've spoken to them recently asking for redemption figures.

Didnt chase sooner due to a combination of not not knowing how long this should take (first time remortgaged) , being abroad on holiday for a week and expecting the lawyer to act on my behalf and chase down any issues.

Slayerx - yes I have now and all due to complete soon. Can't believe people still faxing!

Have raised a complaint with YBS and will see what happens.
