Here's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm5Lc84uxY4 - it's a bit cheesy but fast forward to about 1 min 10 seconds for a couple of tips. Also, one of the best things I found that helped me with the ironing was to invest in a wide ironing board that is higher than normal, making it much easier on the back.

    Ironing?

Our iron was last out on Christmas Eve when I ironed the tablecloth and napkins ready for Christmas Dinner.

It may come out again next Christmas for the same reason, too.

Everything that is washed gets put on hangers immediately so is ready to go from the line to the wardrobe.

    I don't believe in making work! :D

Saying that, I don't mind ironing, it's almost soothing to do... but do not see the point. :)

I think I last saw my iron not xmas gone, but the one before and for the same reason as above.

Hang everything up so it doesn't need ironing , if I wear linen in the summer I iron that, and tablecloths...that's it.

My mum on the other hand irons everything that doesn't move, even her knicks......why?
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

I'll be ironing shortly, it's my Saturday morning job whilst watching Saturday Kitchen :) DD and DS school uniform first so that's sorted for next week, followed by anything else that looks so wrinkled I'd be embarrassed if they left the house wearing it (if they're not leaving the house they can wear it without ironing!).

I don't iron bedding, underwear, PJ's etc, though I do have a friend who irons everything including knickers, socks, towels and tea towels... Apparently they feel nicer if they've been ironed. I think she's taking the Stepford Wife thing too far :D

I do have to confess that my "ironing pile" is actually spread in three different rooms at the moment so it doesn't look quite so dangerous. I'm thinking that, as DD and DS clearly have enough clothes without most of it (some of it's been in the pile for months!), I may bag it up and take it to cash for clothes and pretend I don't know what's happened to it :rotfl:

I don't iron unless I really have to. We don't look creased so my washing and drying obviously works without making creases in everything

I don't mind ironing (some of) DD's things as they take less than a minute each. I'm banned from ironing DH's shirts and he doesn't see the point in ironing anything else he wears. I try to hang everything I can as soon as possible after they've dried to avoid creases. I iron once a fortnight-ish and catch up on telly while I do it. If we go away somewhere hot I wear a lot of linen and so holiday clothes get sent out for ironing once washed. ;)

I found that watching TV while ironing made it take longer. The radio us a better distraction, a good play or some jolly pop music.

I don't iron sheets or poly cotton duvet covers.

I iron each Sunday for about 2 hours. I do not iron things like duvets, sheets, pjs, and underwear like my Mother(!) Only daily outerwear.

I find that giving your washing a good shake before you hang it to dry makes a difference, and lots of steam.

Same here although I occasionally iron 'best' bedding when guests are coming.:o

Most of my ironing is shirts for DH and chino type trousers. Fortunately he has loads of them so I only iron every couple of weeks. I wait for something interesting on the radio so I don't get too bored.
