How long can I keep defrosted lamb leg?

Hi all
I had a boned and stuffed half lamb leg in the freezer since Christmas. I took it out on Monday to cook on Tuesday but for various reasons it has not been cooked yet and has sat in the fridge raw since
It is shrink wrapped and looks ok. Should I do the usual sniff test and cook it or not risk it? It would be an awful shame to waste it.
Thanks all x

Is it shrink wrapped or vacuum packed (not that I'm sure there's a difference!?) I've had some vacuum packed lamb (leg) that, when initially opened, smells and looks a bit iffy - but left open & unwrapped for half an hour or so (as per the instructions on the packet) smells and looks fine and is perfectly safe to cook/eat. Something to do with the oxygen returning to the meat I think!? So, don't sniff initially, give it half hour or so, but I'm sure it'll be fine!0
