Hi,was made BR in 02/2008 which has now dropped off my credit file.
Was forced into signing a 5 year BRU which will be satisfied next month.
Does the BRU drop off my file when it expires next month? or do I have to wait til April 2015?

They used to come off when they expired, but I 've seen it claimed that they now stay for 6 years from their start date on your credit file. No idea if that claim is true, but it might be worth querying with the CRAs.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi Fermi.I've spoken to a credit reference agency, various muppets at the IS & someone & the Information Commissioner. There is no 6 year rule for BRU & BRO's apparently. It's a grey area,if someone has a 10yr BRO then that would drop off after 6 years which wouldn't be correct.I gather that they stay on for as long as the BRU is valid for. They drop off the IS register after they expire. It's amazing speaking to so many people who couldnt give me an answer.0
