Primula Cheese Spread - any good?

Was looking at something for rolls and sandwiches for a surprise party.

Was wondering if it's any good?

It's like everything else in the supermarket, half the people you ask will like it and the other half won't.

I can't stand it, but many other people must like it as the supermarkets sell a lot of it.

There's really only one way to find out if you and your family like it.

Primula do some with prawns and other fillings which make nice pinwheels; ready made pastry sheet, spread it on, cut into ribbons, roll up and bake according to pastry times. You could probably also use in old school vol-au-vents.

Not a good option for sandwiches IMHO, fantastic for feeding cats medicine though. By the time you've bought primula, just buy some basic cheddar and make cheese sandwiches. Soft cheese on bagels, open sandwiches or blinis with smoked salmon would be much more, I want to say sophisticated but I think it would be better to say "grown up"! Xxx

I don't think I would have it on sandwiches, personally. But its nice on crackers. Just don't put it on too early. It makes the crackers soggy.

It always seems too salty for me.
  • Hell no it is similar to cheese whiz! That crap is really not good. Try making a fondue type of spread, pretty easy to do and you can make your own flavour. The base is just cream cheese, milk and cornflour and then add anything to it. If you use onion and garlic as a flavour remember to sweat those down first.
