Pension and death

Hi, can anyone help out, I am a little puzzled. My sister passed away suddenly last year, and her civil service pension went to her husband. Unfortunately he also passed away a few months later, leaving his estate to me. He had been drawing his survivor pension for about six months only. My sister had put in over thirty…

Not necessarily. I took my main civil service pension from April 2011, and am just now looking into the open market options for taking my civil service AVC.

It is not compulsory to take them both at the same time.
