Hi
I was in Sainsburies tonight, and picked up their 'basics range' curry sauce. After looking at the ingredients, I thought I'd try it, out of curiosity.
I didn't expect wonders, but it was actually quite pleasant. It even had some sultanas in it.
Are any of the other basic range/white label curry sauces from the other big supermarkets worth eating?
Cheers

Great, I used half the Sainsbury's 26 p sauce, threw in some frozen prawns (defrosted) from Aldi, and then steamed the rice in a microwave. I put the rice in a deep bowl with enough water above the rice (with salt,) to reach the knuckle on my finger. I then covered the bowl with a plate, and microwaved the rice on high power for roughly 15 minutes, which steamed the rice.
I'd roughly estimate the total cost of the meal came to about 50-70p.
Overall, I thought it was a great super fast/cheap meal.
Cheers

Yes I would second the curry sauce from morrisons - really tasty0

Morrisons is a great place in my opinion. All different types of fresh fish, and strange vegetables you can't get anywhere else. A bit sad to read, that their sales are dropping....0

Just remember that it is not an expensive curry. It is not rubbish, but it only contains the minimum ingredients needed for it to be a curry.
It is like the curry you got in chip shops years ago, and may still do for all I know.
I don't actually "make a curry" with it, instead I use it as a pouring sauce. It livens up things like chicken and chips, sausage and chips etc.0
