How will you celebrate being debt-free?

The day we make the final CC payment I want to have an Indian takeaway to celebrate. A proper blowout - curry, naan bread, bhajis, poppadoms, the works
I haven't come up with much more than that so far! It would be lovely to have a restrained shopping spree (no credit, obviously
) but I think it may feel odd being able to buy frivolous things like new clothes again - might take me a while to warm up to it :rotfl:
So how about you?

LOL, I struggle to spend the grocery budget I have allocated on my DMP! I always think I should try to just spend a tenner on pasta, rice and tins of tomatoes to last the week...
When I am debt free I intend to treat my brother to a trip to the cinema with whatever snacks we fancy!
Bought from the shops beforehand obviously as I'll be debt free, not an idiot LOL

Hmm good question. Although all this paying debts off has turned me into a bit of a tight-wad. So I might just push the boat out and buy some branded beans and a loaf.0

I went to New York and had a blow out0

Probably with some sort of frivolous spend, as doing so would free up several hundred pounds a month for me to spend.
Something like a PS4.DEBT FREE!
Debt free by Xmas 2014: £3555.67/£4805.67 (73.99%)
Debt free by Xmas 2015: £1250/£1250 (100.00%)0 -
I'm probably going to just sit there staring at statements for several weeks! If I can tear myself away I'm planning a family trip out - probably a day out in London (my kids are obsessed with going to see the Queen!).
then I'm going to save and spend lots of time staring at my positive bank balance
This time next year.
Kate xLBM 17th Oct13 - SC DMP - DFD 10th Feb 2018
paid pre-DMP £6146
paid with DMP £2275
F&F's £700 (£450 discount) £1,000 (£1,498.22 discount) £ 700 (489.62 discount)
Total £9725
Current debt to repay £3,503.13 taking one day at a time0 -
The weird thing is that after so long of being really careful with money i'm not sure i'd have the frame of mind to go straight out and spend anything much more than normal!
I think i'd enjoy watching the bank balance climb through positive numbers for a while!
I'm sure the novelty will wear off fairly quickly though and i'd enjoy buying something without feeling guilty. It all takes time and time is money,
money talks and talk is cheap.

When DH finished paying off his DMP (debts accumulated pre our relationship), his treat to me was a lovely meal out and a weekend away as a thank you for supporting him and picking up the tab for our house, lifestyle etc. He then indulged in his passion for music and gigs for a bit before settling back down to saving some each month or contributing more to the monthly spends...
Good job he's learnt those new skills as he's about to be made redundant0
