Lightweight hand mixer (Sainsburys?)

A few days ago I bought a hand mixers that was on sale, very cheap, but I find it a bit heavy.
I was wondering if someone is able to tell me if this hand mixers is heavy or lightweight compared to others, as it's the first I've ever had :)
(mixing by hand is not an option for me, and I don't do enough baking to get a stand mixer, space/money wise)

I've not had the Sainsburys mixer, but bought one of the Wilko Everyday ones 2 weeks ago to replace my dead Curry's Essentials mixer. I've found the Wilko one to be very slightly heavier - I do wish they'd put weights on their specs! If it's any use to you, the Wilko one weighs 700g (without beaters, but with plug/cord), so I presume the Curry's one was between 650/700g. What does the Sainsbobs one weigh?

I read it was 1.2kg, but I'll check later to confirm

It's 1.125 kilos without beaters, it's going back

Could it be because of the power? S's is 300w, the one Currys have on their website is 125w (W's doesn't say).

I suppose it may be related to the power - it could be because of the size of the motor.

The label on the W's one says 125W. I always found 125W to be enough. Like you, I don't use a mixer that often or have the space to get a stand mixer (however much I may want one :D) - I just do the odd sponge cake and maybe whip a bit of cream or buttercream every now and again. And although they only last me, on average, about 18 months, it's not because the motor wears out, it's because (according to my OH who knows about these things!) they have plastic cogs or gears or something :o inside which wear out or break.

The only thing I've found with the cheaper "value" mixers is that there doesn't seem to be much difference between speeds, but again, it's never been too much of a problem for me. It certainly beats (sorry, no pun intended:o) whisking with a balloon whisk :) Personally, I prefer the handle/button positions of the Curry's one (which I think is the same as the Tesco value one), but since I don't use it too often, it's not that big of a deal! There is a review of the Tesco one which comments on how light it is, so maybe worth a look? :)

I have a Bodum one which is very heavy, in fact as I regularly use it I have muscles in my right arm that would rival Sylvester Stallone

I haven't even used it yet, we kind of binged on cake last weekend  because of a birthday and we haven't baked anything lol (and I use the bread machine to knead bread dough).

The different speeds seem to be important, according to some reviewers, I need to have a look at that. I'll give it a try this weekend and see how it goes.

How much does the bodum one weigh, out of curiosity? (it's only 200watts though)

Wow the Tesco one is even cheaper!
