Make cake in my Panasonic Sd2500 breadmaker?

I've been making bread in my Panasonic bread maker for years. But now wonder if I could make cake In it?

I would like to make a lemon drizzle cake In there and wonder what setting I should put it on? Any ideas please :)

It's ok , I found the instructions that have been misplaced :). Now all I need to do is collect recipes.

There should be some cake recipes in the back of your instruction book. You need to mix the cake in a separate bowl then transfer the mixture to the bread pan lined with parchment. It does say in my instruction book that this method isn't suitable for cakes such as Victoria sandwich or those that need to go into a hot oven. Recipes in my book include Apple and Ginger cake, Banana and Walnut loaf, fruit tea bread, Boozy cake, Gingerbread, Coffee and Pecan cake, Cherry and Marzipan cake, but no mention of Lemon Drizzle.I've never tried any of these myself as it's easier to use the oven, I would only think it's worth the effort if you don't have an oven.

I've tried basic cakes in mine (the one without the nut dispenser); and they work out okay but don't seem to rise very well. I haven't tried Lemon Drizzle cake though.

Thanks. Well the cake turned out perfect, really impressed with it. It's cheaper than putting the oven on and turns itself off after the cake is cooked :). Think I will experiment further

That's it, all trial and error. My oven isn't working at the mo, so i baked a cake in my slow cooker as bread was baking in the breadmaker. Glad it turned out as you had hoped.

That's interesting, I've never tried a cake in The slow cooker before.
Did it stick to the sides? Please can you tell me more :)

What I've discovered with the bread maker is to make a cake you need to have a longer bake time and it works out like this...
If a recipe says 1 hour in the oven then it's approx 1 hour 30 mins in the bread maker. Or 30 mins would be 45 mins. (Basically it's half of that time again). I've made 3 different cakes now, and they have all come out perfect :)

Do any of you have recipes that you have made successfully in the Panasonic breadmaker, other than the ones in the book? Would be interesting to keep note of.

Ooh, I love lemon drizzle and I have one of those machines!

What recipe did you successfully use, please?
