Frustrated

Options
lol I apologise if this is a bit long winded I just need to vent :(

I'm getting really frustrated with my job search because I feel that everyone wants more experience than I have even though I am doing everything I can to get experience and am not going to get more experience unless someone gives me a chance. I have lost count of how many interviews I have had only to be told I didn't get the job as I didn't have enough experience :(

I am getting more and more frustrated with this as I am getting increasingly unhappy in my current job due to feeling intimidated and bullied by certain members of staff.

Please wish me some luck that something positive happens soon :)

It is really tough out there at the moment. You can tackle the bullying issues by making a formal grievance to HR.

You must be doing something right to be interviewed in the first place so you must be meeting some criteria - maybe it is the way you come across in interview that is holding you back? I would always ask for feedback when I have received the rejection notice.

Something will come up when you least expect it.

Thanks :) I have spoken to management about the bullying but they just dismiss it and say that's just the way those people are.

I always ask for feedback and am told that it's because I don't have as much experience as others who applied for the same position. I really hope something comes up soon as it's really frustrating me that no one will give me a chance :(

the experience thing is a killer.
I'm trying to think of a job/career I would like after spending the last decade doing monkey work in warehouses for minimum wage. Depressing existence, reallly.
    Recently let go.

Every job seems to want you to have both a degree and lots of experience in the role.
I even type in 'trainee' in the search bar on job sites, hoping that I can start at the bottom and learn at the job, but even 'trainee' jobs tend to want a degree, and ideally experience and qualifications relating to the role.
  • I know :( It's so frustrating. I have a degree and took 2 online qualifications last year and am getting some experience through voluntary work. I'm also working for minimum wage but it seems like this is not enough :(

It's a catch 22 situation isn't it? How can you get a job without experience or get experience without a job?

Speaking to management about bullying and making a formal grievance are two different things. A formal grievance generates a process that the employer has to undertake to resolve the situation.

It has always been the case with regard to experience - it is just getting that employer to take a chance. I see secretarial jobs now where employers want a degree which is madness, 30+ years' experience far outweighs a degree in my book. I even have update qualifications so I shall continue to plod on as you should do too - something will come up.

Yes I have noticed that ¨trainee" positions expect 1-2 years relevant work experience. Annoying to say the least so you arent alone OP.
