Re Mortgage With Abbey!

I am in the process of remortgaging my home with abbey, my current deal runs out at the end of this month.
I went with a fee free whole of the market broker (London & Country) and explained what I wanted and also that my OH has a bad credit history. They came back to me saying Abbey would offer me a mortgage so my OH's file could not of been that bad and that we had gone through the credit check.
We sent of our passports and utility bills for ID, then bank statements and payslips, we have had a survey which came back fine but now Abbey are asking for explanations about things on my OH's credit file. Why are they asking this now when they must of seen these things when applying initially??
I am now worried they are going to reject us, are my worries well founded or am I fretting for nothing?? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi there
We are in the same boat - we re-mortgaged two years ago to clear all our outstanding credit - including Abbey CC and C A/c (all f&F which is why we re-mortgaged).
As such Abbey wouldn't let us re-mortgage with them so we have spent two years with GMAC - now their fixed rate is over we went to L&C and they recommended Abbey - (even though I promised not to deal with them ever again - I have now forgiven them!!!
)
We havent got as far as survey yet but they offered in principle and then asked for further info - I wrote explaining our circumstances at the time and they have accepted this and sent out our mortgage offer - to quote "I'm delighted to be able to offer you this loan" this is even without the survey but we have a high value to loan thingy!
Anyway after all this I guess that I am say - not to worry!
Hope all goes well with you!0 -

Do however get your broker at L&C to help with the letter to Abbey about your circumstances. He should be able to help write it so it presents the facts in the most favourable way.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Okay thanks very much for the replies, going to phone L&C now, on another note has anyone had trouble with there broker at L&C not returning phone calls left on answering machines? I appreciate they are busy but I left a message wednesday and no call back as of yet.0

Yes, that was the only downside of L & C.
Leave a message but also keep ringing to speak to them.
They came good in the end for me.
But Estate agents & solicitors are another matter :mad:0 -
I find that emailing them works really well.0

hi Rick62
L&C weren't able to help with the letter to Abbey - and they made this clear that they couldnt help - but it was a simple explaination I wrote and they seemed to accept it ok0
