What's the best value fruit juice?

Options
Here’s a cautionary tale. Trop50 was on offer, so, paying little attention to the small print on the label, I bought several bottles. I expected a good breakfast juice. But - oh woe! It's a juice drink and it tastes horrid, like cheap cordial. And, at anything between £1.50 and £2.50 a litre - in my view, it’s extortion.
I let myself be conned by the Tropicana name.

A couple of years ago Farmfoods had 2 x 1litre orange juice for a pound. It was good. Are offers like that long gone?

What do people pay for a litre of good quality orange or other breakfast juice?
arghhh!!!

Avoid the chilled juices and get the 1L cartons in the drinks aisle? A lot cheaper!

I can't scimp on orange juice though. It has to have lots of bits and be sweet (so far only found finest juices meet my needs, however I don't buy them much).

I buy the 2 x 1 litre cranberry and tropical juice from farmfoods and its not full of sugar/carbs either, a lot of fruit juice isnt low carb but farmfoods is, bought some last week so you still get 2 for a quid.

Today I bought a litre of proper Tropicana with juicy bits and a long date from the local Nisa garage shop for just a pound. & a long date! (not sure if this is a local or national offer.)

Glad of the info that Farmfoods have the 2 for a £. I will investigate next time I pass!

I stopped buying fruit juice after i saw on Tv how much sugar is in it.
Some of it it;s not much better than drinking Coke.

Most fresh fruit juice is not so fresh just because it says not from concentrate

I am not so bothered about sugars in fruit but if something has been squeezed 6 months ago and a then had a flavour pack added to it I fail to see how it can be called fresh.

I buy the concentrated ones and Aldi Everyday Essentials at 65p a litre it's fine. It's not very sweet so may not suit everyone.

My DH has a small glass every morning. Personally I have NAS Ribena as I don't want the sugars and although many people have issues with sweeteners I can live with one glass a day.

Why would anyone need to be told by a programme that fruit juice contains lots of sugar? Why would anyone think, sugar ingestion wise, it would be any different from fizzy pop?

Guess I'm too old and just used to sane serving sizes - small duralex tumblers not much bigger than a shot glass. There is no need to go all Linus Pauling and swig down half a carton at a time.

I think somehow people thought that 'natural' sugars were healthier than the sugar in your tea and cakes for example. It can be confusing with fruit juice badged with 5-a-day. It's never to late to learn.

I haven't bought juice now for about two years = a mix of it being too high in weightwatcher points and so just not worth it and also a saving in the budget. I was buying it from lidls before as it was only, I think, around 59p a litre but it was a long way from the posh stuff with bits :)

I do miss it a lot though and am debating bringing it back if only I can stop the family being too greedy with it. It is quite important to help with iron absorption from your diet (or so I was told).

I gave up juice with Slimming World and switched to NAS Ribena with my breakfast. I don't enjoy it as much but I enjoy being slim even more!!;)
