Just wondering does anyone have any ideas of what to do pudding wise with a tin of grapefruits.
They been given to us by our mother in law.
Any ideas, I am willing to give a go, as chicken & veg soup tomorrow from left over chicken and boiled chicken carcuss, so may need a pud
Thanks

I love grapefruit but tbh op with tins of it I never get as far as pudding, it goes in a salad with watercress and hot duck breast, or smoked duck or smoked chicken usually.0 -
I guess you could make a sort of upside down cake with the fruit as opposed to using tinned pineapple.Maybe with some brown sugar sprinkled over the top to soften the sharpness a bit.then once cooked dollop some gloopy thick custard on top to sweeten the whole bowl.I love custrd made with birds powder and a pint of milk and two desert spoons of brown sugar. Even nicer if made with evaporated milk made up to a pint with water and a dash of milk The small tins are about 50p and make 3/4 pint of milk with water added then a 1/4 of a pint of milk added to that.Evap. milk also makes the best tasting rice pud in a slow cooker.I use a big tin made up to a pint and a half with water and a 1/4 pint of milk .Slop the whole lot into a 3 litre slow cooker along with 3-4 ounces of pudding rice and two ounces of brown sugar (or caster if you haven't any brown) and turn on last thing at night on the low setting and leave until the morning. Makes a huge two pints of rice pud which will last in the fridge for several days (depending how much you can stop eating it
:)I use this sometimes with almost any sponge pud (or cake thats starting to go a bit hard(zap the cake in the mwave for 15 seconds to soften up)cheap as chips and twice as nice .a filling pud will streeeetch a meal of soup and fill up empty tums

This recipe is for grapefruit sorbet, obviously you would have to omit using the zest!

You could do grapefruit and ice cream.
Make a victoria sponge, poor half in to the tin, drain the juice off the grapefruit and spread in the middle, sprinkle a little sugar on then pour the rest of the mixture on and bake as your would a victoria sandwhich - sometimes needs a touch longer but check it. I always do this with left over apples so don't see why it wouldn't work with grapefruit
Or as jackieo suggested a grapefruit upside down cake.
You could mix with some other fruit and make a fruit salad.
If you have any merginue nests you could have them on them with a little cream / ice cream.
Add them to yoghurt.
Hope you find something to do with them, I have a tin to use to!!Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Think of the flavour. Because grapefruit is pretty sharp, it goes well with things that are rich in flavour, or greasy/oily. The grapefruit will help to cut through the richness and provide a contrast in taste.0
