Reclaiming back tax 2005

Good Evening.

I am hoping someone can help.

What chance do I have reclaiming back tax taken from me in 2005?

I know if I present a valid case they may consider.

Basically I was offered a contract with RBS and their HR department were moving at the time and my paper work was lost so the agency that I found the job through were paying me on their behalf for over five months.

I was on Tax Code BR - which generally indicates a second job tax code.
The only other form of money I had at the time was working for a local cinema / bingo hall which I earnt around £10 per night. I did that for two three nights a week.
So obviously not a money maker. Earned around £100 - £120 per month.

On tax code BR I was taxed the full 20% with no personal allowance being taken into consideration.
I paid £825.44 tax on £3,752.00 tax year (05/06) and tax towards the end of the previous tax year.
I was on £12,000 pa.

I have no record of receiving a rebate.

Is there any legal body who I can complain to if HMRC turn around and say no, unfortunately you cannot reclaim this now?
The tax code on my first P60 from RBS was 498L M1.
If this helps anyone working out if I am due a refund.

Any help is most appreciated. Thanks x

You can only reclaim overpaid tax for previous 4 years. You are talking 9 years ago.

I doubt you have any legal route to go down as if you took them to court they will just state its time barred and the court will throw it out.
