Parents Silver Wedding Hamper Ideas

So it's my parents silver wedding anniversary next month and as me and my brother are a bit tight on cash we've gone for the idea of creating a hamper for them.
We're running with two ideas at the minute;

1. a hamper filled with regular hamper things ie champagne, chocolates, maybe a photo from there wedding day.

2. since we've never really made a big deal of previous anniversarys our other idea was to follow the traditional yearly gifts eg 1st year-paper 2nd year-cotton and have a small gift representing each year of marriage. We're quite happy to go with some serious and some fun ones to keep costs down.

Any ideas for either hamper would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ps they heading to nyc to celebrate so anything relating to that could work too!

I think this idea is fab. The Paper one could be a New York map, I don't know any other 'items' for years sorry, but any you're stuck on you could list here and we can all give suggestions.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I think it is a wonderful idea. Maybe you could get a large picture frame where you have a photo in the middle and a large card gap between that and the outside.
You could stick on the card various items such as paper etc around it with what year it represents and have their original wedding photo graph in the centre. Definately thoughtful and of course a keep sake!

So it's only like 2weeks now and I'm still no where near getting all of the stuff yet. Here are my ideas so far. I think Maybe the others should be jokey ones so I don't have to spend to much more.
PS I know some of them are very loosely based on the tradition but I was really running out of time and ideas!!

    1year PAPER- guidebook for NYC
2year COTTON- clean cotton Yankee candle
    3year LEATHER-
    4year FRUIT/FLOWERS- Lillys
    5year WOOD- wooden decorative heart
    6year SUGAR-bag of sugar
    7year COPPER-
    8year BRONZE-
    9year WILLOW- willow figure
    10year TIN- tin saving pot
    15year CRYSTAL- champagne
    20year CHINA- mugs?
    25year SILVER- photo frame

Also we have left out 11 to 14 as we were totally stumped with them!

Any help would be fabulous!!!! THANK YOU

Personally I don't think its a good idea, its my mam and dads golden wedding in September, maybe one thoughtful gift for that particular anniversary, they've already had the other ones so what would be the point in the bag of sugar etc...? just my opinion x

I agree, one special present rather than 25 jokey ones.

A real silver frame with a picture of their wedding day inside would be nice. Get a large one you can put on the wall.

I think both ideas are excellent but particularly the second one and it's very thoughtful and marks every year in their 25 years together. I'm sure they will be touched by the amount of effort and creativity involved.

For 11 (steel), I know someone who recently bought a stainless steel heart shaped tea strainer from ebay, it wasn't very expensive so might be an idea. If not, there are many things made from stainless steel such as jewellery, keyrings, etc.

For 12 and 13, citrine and jade are both colours so you could choose a small gift (a candle, ornament, plate, or anything really) that is mainly citrine or jade. For 7, if you wanted a joke present, you could literally give them some coppers? Or, again, choose something copper coloured or something made from copper. For 14, I can't really think of anything other than jewellery. You could always search key words like "jade" or "copper" on ebay for ideas or to see if you can find anything that might be suitable.

I think all of the gifts you've listed so far sound great! :)
