Just been to Istanbul and the Exchange is about 2.56. (In shopping Mall and Hotel)
Roughly the same as Travelex.
If you have the Nationwide current acct and debit card use it there, no charges and mostly a better rate.
I travel international about 8 times a month and swear by my Nationwide card.
If you are worried about card security you can always just take cash from the ATM and not use the card in the shops.
Always, Always barter when shopping, they always give a better price and expet to barter for your cash!!!!!!!!!!0 -
when we went to turkey the exchange rate was much better there that it was here, that was using the post office or a lot or shops/estate agents seemed to act as currency exchanges. We tool a few turkish notes and the rest in sterling travelers cheques.
Dont forget to take a £10 note for the visa at the airport (1 for everyone travelling,,,not sure about children though)
