So you think that giving her the cheapest is the best that you can do??

Oops I thought I posted in the techy stuff section. Obviously I am losing my sight and have posted in the "tell me how to run my business" section.

Not that its any of your concern my dear fellow but the customer asked for the cheapest and on a nice slow burn it makes little difference on the price of the DVD. Not that I know much having a HND in computer science and 13 years experience working in IT.

Let me reciprocate with a little advice of my own. Don't ever assume, its makes an A$$ of U and ME!

    Best and thankful regards
    Jez

Rather than posting off topic about your qualifications and experience, why not just Google for bargains?

I'm with Nifty Digits, the cheapest will not be the best and it might be an idea to inform the customer of this.

That has no relevance to the physical stability and durability of the media.

Your customer asked for the cheapest for the purpose of backup, not just the cheapest - there is a difference. A customer should get the service and quality of product fit for purpose.

I just can't believe that someone who has "a HND in computer science and 13 years experience working in IT" actually needs advice about where to buy cheap DVDs, and doesn't already know why buying the cheapest possible is not necessarily a particularly bright idea! :rotfl:

For many years, I had no interest in owning a home PC, as I spent my working day dealing with mainframe programming in a corporate environment. It's perfectly possible to work in a specialised IT field with little knowledge of the specifics of other fields. I could write COBOL, JCL, etc. as easily as English, but wouldn't have a clue how to set up a network .....

I take your point, and I, too, moved from systems programming on mainframes to AS/400s to PCs (just after the IBM PC came out in the UK). But surely someone so educated, experienced and stroppy as Jezarel will know where to search for commodities like blank DVDs, either via Google, or on online stores like Amazon, or in physical shops like Argos. It's not rocket science, surely (which is, in fact, relatively easy!). Hence my considerable scepticism, and tentative opinion that this might well be a wind-up...

The op asked a simple question, regardless whether its putting his business in jeopardy is not anyone else's concern. Ive been into computing using blank dvd's and cd's for lots of years and sometimes buy mine from UKDVDR. Or buy a pack of 10 from Aldi or llidl for around £2-80. I find UKDVDR you can buy 100 for around £14. microdirect sell cheap ones too, and most cases you can buy cheap anything on Ebay.

Im not going to disrespect the op or the repliers as I can see where people are coming from and I do not have qualifications in DVD's but I would search google or ebay before I came on this site. The reason for doing that is because there are too many keyboard warriors on here now, infact some even go through your past posts which I think is a bit sad. Those people have lots of time on their hands and are quick to judge others.

I looked at this thread hoping that someone gave a positive answer to the op's question regarding cheap DVD's. For me a simple answer not only helps the op but other people too. Infact im on my last 5 or 6 blank dvd's so will start looking shortly, this thread could have proved a good starting point for me also, as a member of MSE who does not have keyboard warrior skills, by putting other people down and being downright rude.

Have a nice Sunday lunch y'all
All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.
