Hi
Been lurking since the Autumn and have decided to start a diary - not organised enough to post exact figures tonight, but as it's the start of a new month wanted to get my diary set up:)
Have a mortgage that has just under 3 years to go until paid off and a credit card debt. For various reasons, but mainly because we only have one income to support 2 adults and 1 child, the credit card debt is decreasing very slowly and will only really be able to make headway with that once the mortgage is paid off.
Don't imagine that this will be a very exciting diary for anyone else to read, just want it for my own sake to be able to record progress and look back and see the progress. Will update with figures this week.
And it's 6 months today since I gave up smoking! :j

It sounds like everything is going in the right direction.
Three years to pay off your mortgage is no time at all, and congratulations on giving up smoking.

Thanks for the welcome RainbowBR:)
Ok, have got the figures together and I am going to post the balances from the start of the year - I intended to join and start a diary back then, but the old Jan/Feb 'blues' meant that it was easier just to lurk and read.
As at 31/12/13 - Mortgage 10,196.42 + Card 6,488.17 = 16,684.59
As at 31/1/14 - Mortgage 9,911.54 + Card 6,439.17 = 16,350.71
£333.88 paid off in Jan.
As at 28/2/14 - Mortgage 9,626.30 + Card 6,383.00 = 16,009.30
£341.41 paid off in Feb.
Wouldn't normally wish my life away, but just want the mortgage to be gone so that we can pay a bigger chunk to the card each month. Still, by lumping the two together, I get the satisfaction of seeing a fairly decent dent in the total each month!
Have decided for this year to pay an extra £1 a day to the card and will be doing a catch up payment to cover from the start of the year, which will mean an extra £90 being repaid in March - woo hoo!

Niggling away at me since my last post is the thought that had I worked out what my total debt balance as at the end of Feb was going to be before making the Feb card payment, then I would have paid an extra £10 to the card to get the total balance below £16k ! And even though I have since done the £90 Pad, it's still niggling me about the £10! Silly, I know but the niggle shall niggle no more as I have just paid an extra £10:)
Talking of pounds, 49 of them became important on Monday when I weighed myself for the first time in a long time. Oh dear - 6 months it took for those 49 to go on - the first couple of stone was down to stuffing myself silly after giving up smoking and the rest was down to being a lot less active this winter than usual and having a bad dose of the glums which only comfort eating could ease
Haven't been this heavy since I was pregnant and I don't like being this size or weight. So, the weight loss challenge has begun; will weigh myself weekly on a Monday and I reckon it will take 6 months and some to get rid of the excess 49lbs and back to my usual weight, although of course it would be lovely if there were a magic wand that could work overnight:)

Well, I am pleased - weighed myself this morning and have lost 3lbs in week 1 of the WLC :j So that's 3 down 46 to go!
Have decided to put aside £3 in a pot and will add to it each week (or take from it if I have a weight gain - which of course won't happen ) and once it has the lovely amount of £49 in it, I will decide then what to do with it

Only 1lb lost in week 2 of the WLC - so total now is 4 down 45 to go.
Discovered this last week that it was a false economy to buy a multipack of 4 Flakes for £1. Needless to say the one a week treat theory didn't quite work out! No excuse except gluttony, well ok I was tired, it was cold and gloomy, and the Flakes were calling out to be eaten but ....:D
Better week this week I hope!
Looking forward to next week - the end of March so can update the debt reduction balances, yay!

This is a really good idea, best of luck

0% CC1: [STRIKE]£2,240[/STRIKE] £0. 0% CC2: [STRIKE]£1,934[/STRIKE] £0.
0% CC3: £0 0% CC4: £4,198.
12.9% Loan: [STRIKE]£3,000[/STRIKE] £0
14.9% HP: [STRIKE]£1,103[/STRIKE] £00 -
Wow! Another 5 months gone of 2014, how time flies ...
- for me when I'm not focussing on the debts
Current balances:
As at 30/9/14 Mortgage 7,617.50 and Card 5,600.00 = 13,217.50
- so another £2.345.00 paid off during the 6 months since the last update.
Revised goal for clearing both debts = January 2017 (thanks to an increase in income and a 0% balance transfer):j
The WLC again slowly but surely, by reducing/cutting out the rubbish and forgetting about it - weekly weighing just made me hungry; looking in the mirror and feeling the difference in the fit of my clothes works for me. Dropped a size already - getting there!:)
