I took this policy out in the early 80s. They haven't declared any additional bonuses since about 2002. The regular bonus from previous years is £47k and the with profits benefit is £14.5k, so it will be worth £61.5k (add the two) at maturity. They have now stopped quoting these figures on the annual statement and are only quoting the transfer value. This is currently £37k.


With only six years to go I'm holding on to it - not tempted to transfer - unless I've missed something?


I think that stopping quoting the maturity value of a policy and only quoting the transfer value is relatively "sharp practice".

This information is available on request. Certain plans have inbuilt guarantees which make the guarantee more important than a potential fund value which is largely irrelevant when it comes to meeting those guarantees.
