Old pre-decimal coins (Midlands)
Anybody any idea how to get rid of (preferably sell) a collection of old pre-decimal coins?
It's mainly pennies and in very poor condition. There's certainly nothing of any value in the collection - except for a few old 2/6 and 2/- coins (pre-1947) which I've read have some silver in them.
As the coins weigh a lot, I can't sell them through the post. Thought about local dealers (in the West Midlands) but I think they might reject everything except the silver coins (and there's only about 10 of them).
Can travel quite a distance, but wouldn't carry them very far, so public transport (e.g. into Birmingham) is definitely out.
Thanks for any ideas.

a friend of mine sold some old pennies as a job lot on ebay and was very pleased with the outcome0

I'm not a member of ebay and the weight of the coins is far too heavy to send through the post.
Have no local reputable car boot sales in our area - the ones there are seem to get raided by the police at least once a month.
Any suggestions?0 -

Had a look at ebay, but the quality far exceeds what I have.
Plus, the postage costs wouldn't make it worthwhile.
Really looking for something that can't be sent via the post.
Thanks for the suggestions though.0
