Appreciate that Dave. I've checked after dark and R5Live is fine. But there's a strong buzzing during daylight that makes listening all but impossible.
Martyn,
I'll report tomorrow how the output went from the WNW panels. Gone a bit cloudy at present but there are plenty of clear bits moving north.Cheers,
Ray.

Once the sun went down and the inverter stopped, the buzz went away and the 693 reception returned to the hiss and pops I had when I was a long way from the mains out in the garden.
However, I found that many things around the house cause problems with the 693 reception. It's just as badly cut up by the desk-top computers, and the CFL lamps. So all-in-all I'd say although the inverter causes more interference than other common items I am able to get sufficiently away from mains wiring to receive the poor signal on 693. Are you able to re-site your radio or its aerial?

Thanks for that report Dave. So you had to hold the radio close to the inverter to get distortion. Hmmm. If you look at the photo of the front of my house my radio is in the front bedroom above the lounge window. The panels are just above me but the inverter is at the back of the garage. That's a long way.
It runs on mains power. The only thing that has changed is the installation of the panels, the optimisers and the inverter. I'm going to mention this to the installer and see what they say.Cheers,
Ray.

Hi tunnel,
Can't blame the panels for the appalling weather this week. Hardly seen the sun since Tuesday but I guess most of the country is in the same boat.
Haven't got to the root of the medium wave interference yet. The installer hasn't come across this before. Might be worth posting separately about this. Don't want to have to ditch a perfectly good analogue radio.
My installer has now uploaded the physical layout of the panels and I'm attaching a couple of screenshots of what the Solar Edge software can do.
Enjoyed a good flight from Manchester to Athens earlier in the week. Might have time for a quick hop from there to Larnaca before the lunchtime footie.Cheers,
Ray.

Nice to see the WNW that you were so worried about originally performing like for like with the "better" orientations, it only happens when its cloudy though, something no-one with PV wants.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0

Hiya Ray, was the weather that day better in the afternoon than the morning? It's just that the WNW panels look to have held their own against the others - very impressive.
[Edit - tunnel spotted that too, glad I'm not the only sad one on here!]
What do you like to fly? I pictured you in commercial jets, but it looks like tunnel has stuck you in a F14 Tomcat ...... cool! Shall I call you Maverick from now on ..... "I feel the need, the need for speed."

Hi tunnel & Martyn,
It was a cloudy day hence the equal panel output. I've only had access to the physical layout for 48 hours. Once we have a sunny day I'll have a better idea of generation on the 3 roofs.
Sorry to disappoint but I fly the B737-800 on a civilian flight simulator - Microsoft Flight Sim X. Same as that Malaysian co-pilot. Boring for some (with no guns) but I love the challenge of a successful flight and especially a good landing. Keeps me out of mischief!Cheers,
Ray.
