Good morning,
I had a virus on my laptop a dell inspiron 1720 and so re-installed Vista but now my wireless internet won't work.
When trying to connect it says: 'This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured'
I have the installation discs and have tried looking on Dell wesite, but I really don't know what i'm doing - Can anyone help please!
Many Thanks

did you wipe the factory restore partition
put your service tag in the dell support website, and download the wireless driver, along with anything else missing from device manager!!

Sorry to sound really daft but where will i find my service tag?0

on a sticker attached to the machine, or in the bios, or just put your model number in instead.
a proper backup will remove these headaches in future http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx!!

If this is the only PC the OP has access to, it will be necessary to connect the PC to the router using a LAN cable in order to get on the internet and download the missing wireless driver.... I've connected using a LAN cable and reached the download on the dell site but it wont download as it says local disc full? Sorry to be a pain0

I seem to remember that there was a problem with Broadcom drivers (for the wi-fi in Dell laptops like yours) and Vista a few years ago ... does this help?
