Not sure if it's ok to post this but I was wondering if anyone has joined headspace
I read about it a few weeks ago in my paper and signed up for the free trial for ten days
I am hooked, I love it and I feel I have changed over the last three weeks into a much calmer person. Could be a temporary thing of course:eek:
I bought the years membership a few days ago and for less than £50 I feel it is much better than things I have tried before
Did yoga many years ago but I really like this and I wondered if anyone else was on the same journey.
They do have forums on the site but I haven't been on them
Anyway wishing all you lovely m s e guys a happy calm weekend:T

Hi there,
I use the headspace app, I'm about half way through the yearly programme and the moment and enjoy it. For me though I equally use many of the Jon Kabat Zinn guided practice CDs, and I like using a mixture. You can get them readily on amazon.
There's also a several well known people in the field who have websites where you can download free mindfulness & compassionate mindfulness tracks
Christopher Germer - http://www.mindfulselfcompassion.org/meditations_downloads.php
Kristen Neff: http://www.self-compassion.org/

I have considered Headspace as I would like to get into meditation. I do some while I reiki myself, but never feel I'm quite getting into the right place. I saw a thing about Mindful meditation online the other day and wondered if anyone would consider it. It is called Be Mindful online and costs £60 - quite a lot for me as I dont have much money, but the reviews look good.0

Be mindful is a reputable organisation, however if money is a bit tight, it's worth considering whether there are any free courses you can access on the NHS. Lots of areas now offer the 8 week mindfulness based stress reduction (usually open to people with chronic pain, stress, carers etc) or the mindfulness based cognitive therapy 8 week programme for those with recurring or relapsing depression.
Alternatively, your local library might have the books and audio cds by Jon Kabat Zinn which would give you a good starting point.0 -
sorry to revive an old thread but headspace is brilliant!
how are you getting on with your meditation practice in general all? x

Early days but enjoyable & promising so far.
If someone's done the 10 days free trial I've got a month's free access code for someone - just post or PM me your email address.Ian0 -
Mindfullness is an old Buddhist practice - you may find a local buddhist group you can go to for free or who may run classes without flashy corporate branding!0

I'm doing Headspace meditation too. I think it's brilliant. I've joined it for a year. I did manage to find a discount code.0

Hiya, have just begun the free Headspace sessions-am on Session 4. Please have you any idea where I might access a discount code for a longer subscription?0

I signed up for the app a few weeks ago but have only managed 2 days so far as I find it hard to get 10 minutes in the day when I won't be interrupted (share an office at work, and have 3 kids and a husband at home)! But they must have noticed I wasn't using it as frequently as they recommend because they emailed me with the offer of 2 months free if I subscribed for a year. So you may find as you get towards the end of your 10 day free trial that they send you the same thing direct?
In the meantime if anyone can solve the riddle of getting 10 mins peace to do the thing I'd be grateful. Don't much fancy being mindful of my surroundings whilst locked in the loo! And on day 2 whilst using it on my iPhone the wretched thing rang with an incoming call which was also not perfect!0
