Attempting credit file cleanup post BR, lost documents - help?
Stressedscottish
My hubby and I were declared BR on 22/09/11, I was really stressed by the whole thing and quite low for a while afterwards having had to hand back the keys of my house. As the main breadwinner I coped by throwing myself into work. Trying not to think about it, to enable us to get through. We were discharged 22/09/12 and I have now faced up to the task of trying to clean up our credit files. I have my letters to the creditors ready to go, only to discover I cannot find the BR and discharge documents I need to enclose with them. Who knows what was going on in my mind when I "put them somehwre safe", they aren't in any of the files or logicall places! I know they are in the house somewhere, and i plan another day of hunting tomorrow.
But in case I have no luck finding them, I wondered if there is a way to get copies of the documents, if so will there be a cost? My mortgage and old bank accounts are still showing up as defaulted amongst others so I really don't want to just leave my files as they are. We live in Scotland so dealt wioth the AIB if that makes a difference.
Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully reccieved. thanks in advance.

Copies of the bankruptcy order can be obtained form the court for a cost of £70. Same for discharge certificate. You may be excepemt those fees if on certain benefits.
First I would perhaps see what the OR will give you.
Email discharge.queries@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk as they may be able to write conforming the details of the bankruptcy and discharge.
Written confirmation may be enough for most creditors in the cleanup, and if they refuse on that evidence then you can either pay to get the full certificates or take a complaint to the ICO and FOS and confirmation from the OR should be enough for a company.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks Fermi, I will give that a try. Maybe I'll have a brainwave today and remember where I put the originals!0

Ah! No. I missed the bit about the AIB and Scotland.
That email will be no good. You need to contact the AIB instead.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I phoned the Trustee who was appointed by the AIB and the woman didn't seem to think there would be a problem getting copies of the documents. She is going to pass my request on, and there was no mention of any charge, which would be a bonus.
Thanks, again Fermi0 -
