Hi
I've recently started a new blog called Pretty Thrifty all about affordable weddings and I'm after some quality cost cutting tips for Brides & Grooms to be.
Literally anything from forging your own rings to borrowing a marquee from a scout troupe...
I'd love to hear from people planning their weddings or those that have recently married on a shoestring, about how you saved money without cutting corners. There are some pretty obvious tips for saving money like, invite less people, serve 2 courses instead of 3... I'm more interested in how people still manage to invite 200 people, serve 3 courses and still come in under 2k. Share your tips no matter how big or small!

Number 1 tip. If you don't want it, don't get it.
The biggest savings you'll make is just not buying stuff other people say you should have. You can shop around and get your flower quote down from £500 to £300...but if you just don't care about flowers, just don't bother - £500 spent.
The other obvious thing is to not pay people to do stuff you can do yourself. Our wedding organisers wanted £300 to secure our marquee overnight. I lured a few of my mates with a couple of bottles of spirits and they had a lovely sleepover0 -
Don't you have to ask for permission to post on behalf of an enterprise first?0
