My guess is your pay has probably been returned and will take up to 3 days to be returned (normal time for a BACS payment) I would check with payroll tomorrow and ask if they have it back if they can pay you in cash.0

No one I've spoken to on the phone can actually confirm that it's been sent back though. It wouldn't be so bad if that was the case because then at least I'd roughly be able to tell when I was going to get paid! Its like they don't have a clue where the money is and if it got sent back.0 -
So I just called them back half an hour ago, the man I spoke to put me through to the debt department, no idea why considering they were not one of my creditors. The girl from the debt department also had no idea why so she said she would transfer me to somewhere else, which ended up being... Natwest. No idea why considering I don't even have an account with them! SO Natwest transferred me back to Royal Bank and I ended up where I started 20 minutes before. Ridiculous. Back on the phone I explained to the girl the situation AGAIN and she said there was no note of the investigation the man had said he would get his colleague to start earlier. She said there's no evidence of the money going into my account so had advised me to phone back payroll to get a reference number which I did EARLIER TODAY AND GAVE THEM! But again, no note was left of that on my account. So she told me to phone back tomorrow morning as some departments were not open.
If I wasn't so upset... this would be so pathetic, it would be hilarious.0 -
The exact same thing happened to me when I entered Bankruptcy.
I too bank with RBS, unfortunately there's not much that RBS can do.
Your wages are essential stuck in the banking system between your company's bank and RBS, the funds will be returned to your Payroll Wage account and they will need to re-send the payment.
I think it took about 4-5 days to sort out for me.
If I were you I'd keep checking your account and then keep on at your Payroll/HR Team.
This was the only problem I encountered during my bankruptcy so hopefully you will get it sorted soon.

Thanks, I hope so too. It just seems weird to me that no one that I've been on the phone from the bank seems to know if the money has bounced back in the first place. Surely if money was attempted to be sent to my account and failed, there would be a note of it? I'm going to keep on top of them both, bank and work.0 -

RBS had only offered to phone me back once yesterday. I never heard anything so I phoned them that night at 8pm for updates. They did phone me back... today with the exact info that I got last night. It just seems to me that better notes could be left on my account so I don't have to explain things 1000 times over... it would surely be better for the bank aswell? Since Tuesday, I've been on hold for a total of an hour and on the phone to them another hour.0 -
It's no help to you, but for anyone else reading this thread later, it is always a good idea to go bankrupt soon after your monthly pay has been received, so you can take enough out in cash to know you can get through any banking hiccups that arise.
I suggest that you should ask your employer if they can advance you £100 in cash from your next months wages to get you over this period.
There is nothing you can do to speed up sorting out whatever has happened, it isn't anyone in particular's fault, and getting the police involved would waste everyone's time including yours.0 -

They won't advance me or send anything until they've had that payment back. I work for the NHS. If I worked in a shop, asking for an advance probably wouldn't be a problem. I took money out last Saturday and the issue is still on going, that is almost a week now. Yes, if I had known it would have been dragged out more than four days, I would have been more prepared. If someone could give me a definite answer as to where my wages are, bank of payroll, I wouldn't be so freaked out.0 -
I've phoned payroll today in the first instance to make sure they haven't received the payment back yet and apparently that the woman I need to speak to in away from the desk and I've to phone back in half an hour. Looks like it'll be another day spent on the phone.0
