  • See this alot.. I,m not a parent yet.. but would know not to do this.. simple as knowing a friend unlock code on iphone and stict them up on FB. But dont think the parent should always be the blame i think microsoft can make it so much better so card details are stored but harder to pucrchase things.. when kids puchase things why cant it send a txt to the parent phone for them to authrise the trancation or parent put a unique code when prompt a purchase was being made.... or the 3 digit should be have to put in.. or even better a cap amount allowed to spend a month.. such as 10 pounds.. if over 10 pound the parent need to put a code or passward they only know.

Should go same with Itunes.. iphone PS4

Because it makes it more of a pain for sensible users who want to make purchases without jumping through hoops to get there.

When you add the card details it tells you in the terms and conditions what will happen with that information, and what steps you can take to ensure this is restricted - including the option to input a code (combination of button presses on the controller) that needs to be used to allow purchases to go through.

On the xbox one with user identification on - it even comes up with a prompt if my Son tries to access my Fifa Ultimate Team (and vice versa) based on who it recognises as holding the controller.

So the mechanisms are already there to control and restrict this from happening but the OP didn't use these.

I'm afraid OP is out of luck. OP should not have left non-password-protected payment details plugged into a console, simple as that. Hell, I don't have any children and I still don't leave my details plugged in to my PSN account, iTunes or the Amazon 1-Click Service; makes it much easier to avoid impulse purchases!

The son says he did not realise he was spending money. At least once during each transaction he will have been asked to confirm his purchase. That bit probably even had the amount, in pounds, up on the screen. Even if he thought he was spending points, surely this would be the point (sorry) where he calls mum over and asks her if it's OK? Maybe once is understandable, just clicking through to make the boxes go away and get back to the game, but surely by the second time the big T&Cs box comes up he might twig..?
