Fair Credit. Can i get a loan?

Unfortunately kayley, the lenders don't know that you are going to pay debts off with the remainder, even if you told them your intentions. They will only assume you will spend all of the balance. BTW I was quoted 12.9% apr with nationwide for a 7k loan. Thought that was a good indication of acceptance, went ahead and got declined. Rang them up and they said it was because of "affordability" and I earn 18k gross salary and only 1.3k debt. So my advice would be not to go ahead with any loan application which will only dampen your credit worthiness even further0

sooo what would everyone suggest? I do desperatly need a car i have to travel 50 miles a day to work and i am currently caring for my grandmother after work who isnt in the best of health. I have had to have a week off work just to care for her otherwise i wouldnt of been able to get to her house. I can get a lift to work and back for another 5 weeks until the gentleman retires but he wont take to me to grandmas house as its to far out of his way. (there is a bit of a family problem so this is why i am looking after grandma rather than my mother). If anyone has any ideas as to what i can do? my main aim is a car and to get out of the overdraft x0

As I suggested earlier, get a much cheaper car.
Can grandma help? Are you being paid as her carer? If not, why not! Is she receiving Attendance Allowance or whatever it is called nowadays? When my late Mum was getting it, she could have had a new car instead of part of the money. Have you investigated any of this? You shouldn't be expected to lose your job to care for a sick relative."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Im not a paid carer. She just isnt well so i go and stay with her and help her out like any grandaughter would do. my grandma is a funny character, She gave me a £1000 deposit for a car, then she begged me to move in to her house. I said No so she took the money back off me. She likes to use blackmail to get her own way. shes on the verge of dementia to but she likes things her own way. I dont have any family that can help at the moment. And if i dont get even a small loan for a car then i will still have to go with finance as all my savings went on to my old car

Well, in that case Grandma had better be told that if the £1000 doesn't reappear, she'll have to find a new carer. I certainly wouldn't have the old biddy get away with her blackmail."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. Its not really her fault, she isnt well and doesnt like to be on her own so she uses blackmail to get her own way. she did it with my grandad for years, its just the way she is x0

You have good intentions of paying the them off but the lenders dont know that you will do that.
Either fix the car whilst you save up and look for another car or look at a car on finance.0 -

Yes it is her fault.0 -
To everyone going on about only borrowing up to 50% of your salary - rubbish. Im on £15800 a year, got a credit card of £4000 using £1800 of that, and just got a loan from Tesco for £10,000, didn't even have to send anything with my application. Its how you manage money, not percentages.0
