Books received in post that wasn't ordered...help!!

I wonder if any of you lovely people can help me.
My sister received some books through the post she didn't order and there was a bill for £8 with them. She liked the books for her little boy and paid the £8. She has now been sent further books and a bill for £54.
She doesnt want the books or to pay the fat bill.
She rang the company to say she was returning the books and they said she will still be charged the £54 even though she didn't order the books as accepting the first set of books "joined" her in their book club.
Does anybody know of a letter she can send them (which sounds official) along with the books to basically tell them where to put they can shove books legally and does anybody know if she has to pay the postage when returning the books.
many thanks in advance Bam x

At a guess Grolier (bets on them) or World books. You could try searching on here, a few have had similar issues with them. At a guess she may have ordered a 'free book' like the Cars, Winnie the Pooh ones etc which have been offered lately, then they end up sending loads out.One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
This sounds like my experience with Grolier! I ended up paying for the books over 6 or 7 months (£8 per month I think). They are a nightmare to get rid off!
I'm sure that you can get the details of their "book club" on their web page. Most of these clubs only ask that you buy say 3 full price books per year. Your sister should ask for the small print details of what exactly she has signed up for! If she has actually signed up for anything.....
I eventually sent them an email asking them to stop sending me books and calendars on approval as I couldn't afford to pay for them. This worked . Telling them on the telephone doesn't :mad:Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D
Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p
SW start 08/01/14 4/21lbs (1st target) :j0
